Because the science says so

Apparently, the follow the science crowd believes being vaccinated keeps you from getting drunk or something.

If you read, what the sign said, then you could read that if ONLY requires proof of vaccination to PURCHASE the alcohol. Nowhere does it say that it requires proof of vaccination to drink it. So the "science crowd" have not made that claim. And who is the socalled science crowd, and why is bad to be smart?

Where in the science does it say anything about covid and buying alcohol?
It's not about the science but about control.

It should be noted that "WA" refers to the Western Australia, which has the one of the lowest covid rates on the planet. More story on this at https://au.news.yahoo.com/customer-confused-aldi-sign-new-covid-rule-starts-wa-215555092.html .
Science shows that having more people vaccinated reduces incidence and seriousness of covid infection. Encouraging people to get vaccinated can take many forms The mechanisms taken for this by the WA government may seem severe, but something out there is working.

You made my point.
It's all about control.
Not surprisingly, the people making the laws are the same ones that constantly violate their own laws. The laws only apply to the plebs.

No, it's about government encouraging responsible behaviour...which is part of a government's role in protecting the rights of the people. That's why, for example, we have rules against driving too fast on the motorways or ignoring traffic signals.
Not surprisingly, the people making the laws are the same ones that constantly violate their own laws. The laws only apply to the plebs.
I haven't researched this phenomenon in Western Australia. Perhaps you're referring to BoJo...the next former PM in the UK.

What does driving too fast have to do with being able to (or not) buy booze? Banning dangerous driving is not the same as banning certain people from buying certain products.
UMM, clearly you don't pay attention to the news.
On 20 Jan 2021, Biden signed 39 Exec Orders. One of those orders was that EVERYONE on federal property MUST wear a mask (medical exemption apply, of course). What did Biden do? He took his family to the Lincoln Memorial and not a single one of them wore a mask, as seen in the various photos of the event.
Pelosi at the hair salon. Clearly, you won't remember, but others will most likely remember that the 3rd person in line for the nuke codes claims that a hairstylist duped her into the situation.
Scotland's 1st Minister likewise violated her own mask mandate. The same with Scotland's version of St Fauci. Several politicians from the Scottish government also violated the mask mandates. The 1st Minister's sister tweeted a set of pictures of her maskless on the train, despite constant mask mandate on public transport.
Gavin Newsom and many in the health industry violated a lockdown and had a maskless group dinner at the French Laundry.
Beetlejuice also violated her own mask mandate.
The list is extremely long on those in charge violating the very rules they put in place for us plebs, that they violate and get away with.
If you weren't a liberal, I'd be shocked that you didn't know about all the cases of those in power or related to those in power violating, with impunity, the covid rules/laws they put in place.

@raphjd The thing to do is.. load up a shopping cart filled with items spread out from all over the store.. and a bottle of wine. Have them ring up every item, and the last item being the bottle of wine. When they refuse to sell that to you, simply walk away without paying - and let them go to the considerable effort of re-stocking all that crap that was in your shopping cart!
-
The liberal media shilled for Biden on this;
Joe & Jill Biden violating the DC mask mandate.

The topic of this thread was government regulation/overreach. My point, which I thought would be obvious, was that governments impose laws and regulations with the intention of protecting people--and that people accept that in many cases like speed limits and traffic signals.
The WA ban does seem odd. One approach might have been to ban the unvaxxed from entering a food store/market at all--but that would be going much too far: An unvaccinated person, no matter how idiotic and dangerous he or she may be, still has the need to buy food. I think the argument could be made, though, that such person does not have a need to buy alcohol.
What did Biden do?
It's amazing to me how some people have to bring up Biden and the "durned Libberulls" when they're not part of the discussion topic. But I agree that politicians--left, right, center, up, and down--do not always follow the rules. Resolving that problem is the task of the voters.

Didn't Hitler do something like you support? Certain people had laws passed against them, while others didn't.
I do love the Nuremberg Defense (I was just following orders) that the people on your side love to use as an excuse for your cuntish behavior, as we saw with the LUSH incident and many others.
Umm, you brought up Boris, but totally forgot to mention the people on your side, so I helped you with that lapse. Boris has as much to do with the discussion as the ones I mentioned.
The biggest Nazis are the biggest violators of their own rules. And YES, that includes Boris. Unlike the others, Boris had the decency to reverse the covid crap.

No. If people choose the anti-social posture of refusing to vaccinate (without medical reason), then they should take responsibility for their actions, rather than whining about discrimination. There is no parallel with Hitler.

This is not about "sides." I was hoping that this thread might actually bring about intelligent discussion of the issues at hand...but I was wrong. This topic has become useless.
-
NO. You, people, are happy to force things on others just like the Nazis.
Funny how you get butt hurt because I brought up a bunch of liberals who violate their own laws/rules after you brought up Boris and now you are complaining that it's no longer an "intelligent" conversation.
Typical liberal.

There's no point to continuing this thread, when all that remains is childish name-calling.
-
You can leave the thread if you like.
Typical liberal attitude, you can demonize and insult your enemies, but get butt hurt when it's done to you.
-
How does making a minimum wage employee re-shelve all those products have to do with getting back at the control freak government?
-
I think he's saying to punish the business for following the corrupt law.

What is anti-social about choosing to not be vaccinated?
People who choice not to be vaccinated are taking responsibility for their actions. Why should you care if you are vaccinated and boosted and masked (even triple masked) you are safe. Let them be responsible for themselves and you be for yourself.
There are parallels to Hitler is so must as the government is taking control (restricting freedom) in an authoritarian way. There is no science behind any of their claims. John's Hopkins study shows that lockdowns and stay at home orders didn't help stop the spread of Covid. The CDC claims that the only effective mask is N95 or KN95 to stop the spead.
When will the Liberals give up. They have been wrong at every turn. They need to "put on their big boy pants" and say they were wrong and undo all these draconian rules that have no bases in Science.

@raphjd yes.. I have gotten in several battles at movie theaters, restaurants, and stores in which the employees suddenly get the idea that they have been given the power of being "law enforcement". In the early days of Covid.. they had just started with the rule that you had to keep 6 feet away from everybody else. I was in a Walmart in which I was at least 12 feet away from this crazy woman, and she started yelling at me for being too close. I then "corrected" her thinking, which resulted in THREE managers intervening to break up the battle. I have found that women often have the idea that because they have a vagina, they can say anything they like, and nobody will respond to them. I ALWAYS respond when someone starts on me. About a month ago, some crazy woman started attacking me for no reason. There was a cop standing just 10 feet away. The cop did nothing to stop her, so I did. At one point I told her she was acting like she was retarded. She took huge offense to that. Later I went up to her and said "I've got to apologize..." and she started on me again... and I continued "I must apologize to all the retarded people for comparing THEM to YOU!" I thought her head was going to explode. She started waving her arms, speaking incoherently, and stormed out of the store.
