Someone rated it before any possible completed download? (It's showing as snatched 15 times).
Might be someone that really loves him and thinks it should be paid access only, or someone that really does not like him, or jealous, or having a bad day, or something else?
At least the ratings do not affect anything else for the most part, unless there's something that is being missed.

11. Any information, e.g. the title, categories, pictures and description must correctly represent the content of the files shared with the torrent and avoid misleading members about the content. This applies as well to additions, votes or comments made by other members than the original uploader. In doubt, rather than providing wrong information, omit it.
At least one good quality picture is mandatory for the torrent presentation.
Torrents in the Themed Movie and TV / Episodes categories need to indicate the audio language(s) and, if present, the subtitle language(s), including if optional, forced or hardcoded in the video.
Descriptions in the title such as "Hot!", "Must See!", "Best Ever!", "New" or "Latest" are unacceptable. The comment area is the only appropriate place to give your personal opinion of the content or otherwise make personal requests. Include the release date, rather than "New", "Latest", etc. …
Do not plead for bonus seed points in the description area. -
I have noted one-star spammers in a specific context: Members who don't like a certain Category such as Older, Trans, or a particular OnlyFans celeb – and add their single star long before any downloads are complete.
It's a childish and unhelpful way to behave, of course.
One way to stop this would be a system edit where members must wait until an entire download is completed, before that particular star rating system becomes "unlocked" and available to them.
Would such a change be helpful if honest ratings are the goal? My thinking leans toward "Yes."
Some may claim a right to vote if they have already seen a movie or clip that they love or hate, but as they haven't seen the viewing quality of that particular upload, I think they have less standing than those who have actually downloaded.
In any event, whether this change is possible with GTRU system formatting abilities, I haven't the slightest.
-
Almost every single upload in the mature section gets a 1 star rating minutes after upload. It rarely fails and it is nothing but trolling. If ratings are about the actual content you should not be able to rate unless you download it. If ratings are about the actual torrent presentation then it makes no sense that well presented torrents gets slammed by 1 star right away and the rest are 4-5 stars.

We are working on recruiting more staff to help us.

I know the advice to "report" is useful in many instances, but if members reported each "too-early" one-star review, the Help Desk would be deluged by perhaps 100 cases each week.
Of course, you might be able to see which members are abusing the system, and in that case, they could be warned or something stronger.
In any event, I still would like to see a system where the star ratings are available only to those who have actually downloaded the particular file(s), as the Original Poster suggested.
Are there other members (in addition to dc2009, above) who have noted these "poisoned one stars" and think it's worth further discussion and possible change, as described above?
-
Yes and yes.
It's definitely possible to keep one function locked until at least one (or X out of X) connection goes from leecher to seeder. Also possible to allow only 5-Star ratings before completion. PHP (among other languages) are easy for some to write if they are familiar with the current setup and environment.
Another possible would be to require text in a box when rating a torrent with one or two stars, with note that the opinion will be published with their username. In that event only true opinions will be given. If one were to give a lot of torrents one stars with revealed usernames, well Lucy gots some 'splanin to do as to why they are here if they don't like even one friggin' torrent going on here.
Time and resources to do so? That's an entirely different ask.
If it's just two or three people doing the one-pointers, that's a bit of work for a small reward.
On the other side, reports of every event of one-point-before-torrent-finishes indeed would be a lot of oppressive mail to handle.
If a banner or front page warning does not work "Low star ratings on uncompleted torrents may result in suspension or a ban" or if it will take too much work to ferret out or write php against such activity, this may go on the back burner until it can't.
Edit to add another possible of populating ratings with member names (by altering a snippet of code already being used) graphically:
In this example, if stef1118 shows up on too many torrents as always giving one star, maybe stef can be asked why by Staff after being reported. There's plenty of us that pay attention to different types of details.
This could also cause more to only give 5 stars, and we'll end up with a lot of 5-star crap (not the Scat category type, sorry).
This example could cause animosity (or other problems) towards each other, however, if not implemented perfectly in an imperfect world (which may be impossible given all our unique personalities). It's possible that any change can do that as well. It won't be an easy decision for Staff or the Owner, should they decide to address or act.

I was mostly referring to reporting torrents that violate the buzzword rule when I mentioned reporting the torrent.
I do agree that we need a way prevent anyone who has not downloaded the torrent to 100% from voting on it.
I'll put a request in the staff section for this since Joker needs to do this.
-
From a single score, it can be difficult to discern what is being valued:
-
Posting Presentation (Buzzwords, poor/misleading description, lack of images)
-
Seeding/Download speed (seeders that have limited upload speed and/or window seem to get these)
-
Duplication, Possible Malware,
-
File-naming/Organization
-
Content Category/Actor/Studio (I like X, I won't watch anything with Y, etc.)
-
Content Work (I like that particular scene)
-
File (particular encoding, artfact, etc)
I do agree that the proposed solution (requiring download to rate) would mostly address the concerns.
Previously I have nearly downloaded malware/suspicious files and only stopped and looked closer due to a one-star review.
I realize it is not particularly more burdensome to report cases like these (two-clicks and some typing instead of one-click),
and staff are very quick in removing these (but they are human, limited in number and unpaid), but you would still have to also type a comment on the post itself to make your concerns visible. However, I would at least raise the concern that any additional burden would also reduce this kind of behavior that is helpful to the community; is there a way to make this process (reporting and making your concerns visible) less burdensome (fewer steps)?
While bcc's suggestion regarding the requirement of a comment for one-star sounds good, use of required text-fields to interrupt behavior without accountability usually just leads to gibberish, ".", or other null comments.
Regarding visibility/reputation as a solution – I am not sure how much reputation matters to those committing these offences, aside from situation where they might have to ask for leniency or make requests for torrents/re-seeds.

It's true, zeno, that a one-click star designation doesn't provide the specifics for the rating, but I fear that the more complex suggestions are too time- and space-consuming, a programming challenge, or raise issues if member names and scores are revealed.
The latter could lead to a lot of "revenge scoring," or as pointed out, perhaps even "scoring inflation." So I will stay with advocating a simple, anonymous star system that only allows a vote upon completion of a torrent.
-
If someone is spiteful/upset/other enough to really want to rate a torrent with one star, at least having to download the whole thing first could slow them down.
I love challenges sometimes, though

I think most people would love to get Reno Gold into their bed. Sorry, but he's MINE! Back off you bitches!
Seriously though.. there is a possible reason why that got a 1 star rating. There are many people who keep re-uploading the videos of Reno Gold and Xleox (Leo Stuke). These compilations are often over 20 GB in size. What I do, is adjust the download directory in Utorrent to download all my Reno Gold videos to ONE directory (called Reno Gold) and that results in saving me from downloading 3/4 of the duplicate files. Sometimes the files have random computer generated names - which is quite annoying.
Reno Gold is quite gay.. and extremely talented, and extremely good looking. My only complaint is - WHEN is he going to start FUCKING on camera? He's done everything else BUT fuck. He has cum into his OWN mouth several times. He's eaten guy's asses with a passion. He sucks cock like a champion. He takes toys up his ass with gusto. He rubs his cock down ass cracks with finesse. Let's get FUCKING!
-
lolo, we surrender Reno Gold to your fiendish desires. Prepare your dungeon!
Meanwhile, let's also keep our focus on implementing a solution to the voting system. It seems that almost everyone's in agreement on the need for change and the method, so with luck, we will soon hear from raph or another senior member about how this can go forward. :cool2:

I put the programming request in, so when Joker gets the chance, he'll fix the issue.

Any news on this problem?

Every single new upload to the mature section has been hit by one star ratings almost right away today. It's been over a year since this topic was openbed for discussion. The rating system should seriously be closed down and then whoever has fun ruining an already suffering section is forced to leave a comment to express whatever is wrong with the torrent which i'm sure this person won't do. This is getting old real fast.
-
It seems the one star poster doesn't like mature and bears.
I questioned this on a torrent today as well.
I know I ask about this last year and was told a fix was in the works. I don't think they need to do away with the ratings but if you are going to leave one I feel you should have to say why you are leaving it.

@leeniedo LOL! Wow. Apparently, it seems as if people have got a lot of time on their hands. Yeah, I don't pay much attention to that nonsense, but it can be mysteriously entertaining at the same token. I think I've had one person give a four-star rating when I just uploaded it and larger files take more time to download. So, for someone to give it a four-star rating, either they've already seen it or they probably
want 2 or 3 seed points I suppose.Going back to the one-star rating fanatic, I don't know what to say. If you look at the grand scheme of things, I think we all know how the whole movie will unfold, you know? So, what are they expecting? A sock-puppet show?
