Torrent With Unmentioned Content
-
Question: if an uploader shares a torrent purporting to be, say, a collection of images from a performer but when you look at the file list, most of the size of the torrent is taken up by a bunch of completely unrelated scenes/movies (not featuring the performer etc.), is it a violation of the rules? Should it be reported?
I always look at the file list so I caught it but it seems to me a lot of people would have downloaded the torrent without realizing 95% of its size was due to the unrelated movies that, conveniently, were listed at the very bottom of the file list.
Just curious what is allowed in that regard (that feels like surreptitious torrent-packing) and how actively these kinds of things should be reported.
I mean I don't want to be a snitchy torrent-policer but I admit that subterfuge felt particularly misleading and annoyed me. -
I had a very similar situation occur with an upload that named an actor as primary, but whose clip constituted only about 3 percent of the content, with the remainder being an unrelated clip that was mentioned in very brief fashion.
It was meant to be deceptive and to gain many times the seedpoints compared to the tiny clip on its own. Several other members expressed dissatisfaction in the comments section.
When I reported the upload, I received the following reply:
"While this is not in the written rules, we do highly frown upon users who over inflate their torrents with content other than what is advertised. Not only is this considered inflating the torrent size, but it also a violation of rule #11
Quote:
Any information, e.g. the title, categories, pictures and description must correctly represent the content of the files shared with the torrent and avoid misleading members about the content. This applies as well to additions, votes or comments made by other members than the original uploader. In doubt, rather than providing wrong information, omit it.
* At least one good quality picture is mandatory for the torrent presentation.
* Torrents in the Themed Movie and TV / Episodes categories need to indicate the audio language(s) and, if present, the subtitle language(s), including if optional, forced or hardcoded in the video.
* Descriptions in the title such as "Hot!", "Must See!", "Best Ever!", "New" or "Latest" are unacceptable. The comment area is the only appropriate place to give your personal opinion of the content or otherwise make personal requests. Include the release date, rather than "New", "Latest", etc. …
* Do not plead for bonus seed points in the description area."So yes, it is regarded as a violation, and you're well within your rights to report it and help in keeping things "honest." I hope you do just that.

If it is still there, I will.
Thank you for answering and tracking down your previous thread! -

I can't tell you how much I hate users who do that! Member download torrents based on what we think is in there! If the uploader also downloads torrents (safe to assume), I know they've must have felt frustration at least a couple of times when people upload content that doesn't represent the torent description/photos! Then why do it to other people? That's why I don't own a tracker, I'd delete all those MF…....

For the record, when I looked last night, it had been deleted already so someone else had already reported it.
But I'll be sure to keep an eye out now that I know it is OK to report them. :police: -

I'm going to poke a little fun at you. Over the past few weeks you've expressed many reasons why you are no longer involved with running a tracker (in posted responses to other posts). Unless there is one more, say for instance you can no longer get laid because you run a tracker, I think we know now that you no longer run a tracker, for said variety of reasons. But if you do have more, you may want to write a post and list all of them in one place, at one time. Based upon what you've described, I know I will NEVER be running a tracker. Aside from that, I do enjoy reading your responses to people, you clearly have a lot of knowledge, experience, and appreciate being a member of this community - and what you write and share does add value to it. So thank you for being here!

LOLOLOL Shit! If it came down to running a tracker, and getting laid, the tracker can kiss my ass! Getting laid would be 100% priority!!! :bananadope: But seriously, I only mention that because it is massively hard work, unless you have friends/sizable staff that is committed. And the average person doesn't appreciate that.
I do thank you for reading my responses. To be honest, sometimes I think I'm on my computers too damn much, which may explain why I have a deeper understanding of certain things more than the average person. I think that's the trade off when you're a full blown pirate. LOLOL

You're a full blown pirate, you say? You know what they say about pirates, either they are up atop the crow's nest or down on deck scrubbing. So what kind of pirate are you: the "Well, Shiver Me Timbers" type, or the "Well, blow me down!" type?
