I need seedbonus points to fix my ratio and continue posting videos
-
This is a new member who has actually gone above and beyond to contribute new content and done it in a fair way, yet we're standing around criticizing him. That's a poor reflection of the community.
The statement "I need seedbonus points to fix my ratio and continue posting videos" is deliberately deceptive. Ratio has no effect on ability to post videos. Posting videos is by far the most efficient way to improve the ratio, much more efficient than begging for a few points here and there, so it's not even particularly helpful in that situation.
I said "deliberately deceptive" because when it was politely pointed out to him that it was not true, his only response was, "why so much drama ??" I interpret that to mean, "Yes, I know and I am doing it on purpose, go away and leave me alone." It doesn't seem like a case of attacking an innocent newcomer. He knows exactly what he's doing.
It's also wrong to make others think that if their ratio is bad, they can't post videos.
I see it as equivalent to a scamming beggar asking for change (seedbonus points) to buy food for other people (posting videos) when they really plan to use it to buy drugs for personal use (download videos). It's even worse because in this case, the change being solicited can't be used to buy food at all, only drugs, because food is free.

Hold on.
With all due respect to the OP, I think this is as much a case of overzealous peer moderation as much as it is a request for help. I'd like to point out the following in defense of the user wanting more seedbonus:
1. He uploaded torrents to seed them, and requested seedbonus points as a donation. I've seen multiple new users who do that, and I don't know why this user should be singled out versus all of the others. If it's a flat rule, then apply it equally. Otherwise, I don't see anything technically wrong with a new user requesting seedbonus points for his contributions.
2. He uploaded multiple torrents to seed. If he uploaded even just 5 torrents (linked to in this topic), my guess is that probably puts him in the upper half of all members contributing new content to the GTRU community. That makes him a fairly valuable new member, to be honest.
3. He didn't post his request in the torrent description. He posted factual, descriptive text that's informative and on point. His request for extra seedbonus was down in the comments.
4. Frankly, this is a pointed criticism to the OP zbret: instead of being annoyed at a new member, why wouldn't you channel your annoyance at something constructive and reach out to the member. You've clearly been a successful member of GTRU for many years, and your experience would be beneficial to help new members. This topic could have been: "How do we help this new user acclimate to the community and be successful."This is a new member who has actually gone above and beyond to contribute new content and done it in a fair way, yet we're standing around criticizing him. That's a poor reflection of the community.
I run my own community, and there is a HUGE difference from my perspective as a community manager between a member who attempts to contribute first and then asks for help versus a member who just begs for content without doing anything. This is probably one of the most valuable new members you can onboard to GTRU: He's posted multiple new files. He's posted informative text. He's uploaded proper screenshots of both large photos and thumbnails. If anything, he has the potential to become a superuser and a major contributor to the community for years to come.
Considering that Uploader Identities are anonymous, how would you know the # of files the Uploaded has uploaded? Hmmm? I put on the breaks reading your argument the moment I read that. I do give you credence for taking your position, and your passion and manner in which you articulated your position. But back to basics, how do you know all of this when the Uploader of any torrent is anonymous to all except staff and moderators?
Hi. Does one torrent lessen the argument any more than five torrents?
The point still stands: this is a new user who actively contributed something first and did everything 'correct' in terms of posting a descriptive and valuable torrent.

Bottom line, if users would actually bother to read the site rules/instructions, we wouldn't have these "misinterpretations." Everyone would be on the same page. AND if the rules are deceiving, than the owner has an obligation to it's members to make it clearer. Don't just explain it to one user, make the effort to update the site's documentation.

I welcome input if I'm wrong, but in defense of some (clearly, not all) of the struggling Uploaders, it's quite possible they live in a country where Internet provider speeds are slow, or somewhere that charges a lot of money for what we, in more developed markets, consider standard service.
Thanks for mentioning this. I live in Sri Lanka, and despite having the best high-speed service available here, the entire system often slows down dramatically or stops completely for periods of time ranging from minutes to hours every day. There's nothing to be done about it, but it does affect my ability to both upload and download in a timely way. Part of the price you pay for living in paradise.
Is it paradise if you don't have good internet speeds?? :cheesy2: LOL
Paradise is subjective, but if you live in a non-conflict area of the country (is there one?), and have access to nice beaches and meeting Sri Lankan guys, you're approaching my paradise paradigm.

Doing something good isn't a license for doing bad things.
Bottom line, if users would actually bother to read the site rules/instructions, we wouldn't have these "misinterpretations." Everyone would be on the same page.
That is true but it never has happened and will never happen, here or anywhere else. Even if everyone carefully read and understood and remembered all of the rules that apply to them, some people will choose not to follow them.
Besides, what he is doing is not against the site rules even if it is against their spirit and intention as he is begging for points in the comments, not in the video description.

Hi, some thoughts:
1. In my opinion, out of all the possible things that could go wrong on the site, this hardly ranks in the worst.
Here are some things, at least to me, that are far more problematic:
- Uploaders who incorrectly miscategorize the categories
- Uploaders who post wrong or inaccurage thumbnails
- Uploaders who don't put complete descriptions or don't correctly identify all of the files
- Uploaders who pad their files
- Freeleech that's a string of non-mainstream porn like Chubolds
- Members who intentionally put down or attack other members
All of those are far more problematic to me as a GTRU user than some new guy asking for seedbonus. Like, who cares if he begs for seedbonus?
2. Doing something good isn't a license for doing something bad – As I explained above, what the user is doing - out of the grand totality of the worst things possible on GTRU - hardly ranks as problematic. And as I've explained before, this is a user who uploaded FIRST and then asked for seedbonus. That's a far more valuable member than a member who doesn't do anything, but still begs / asks for free stuff (eg. all of those members who want OnlyFans), wouldn't you agree?
A homeless guy who gets a minimum wage job and still asks for money is much more valuable to society than a homeless guy who just begs for money.
3. New members should be allowed more leeway. They're literally new and inexperienced to the site. The question shouldn't be "how do we ban / criticize every new member who doesn't know the rules?". Instead, the question should be, "how do we present a smoother onboarding that clarifies and affirms our community guidelines". For example ...
- Are brand new users presented with announcement bar for the first 90 days that links them to various Rules and Guidelines?
- Do brand new users receive a welcome email message that links to various Rules and Guidelines?
- How does GTRU reconcile the Rules section and all of the pinned posts tucked away in the forums, which no new user is ever going to realistically browse?
- When was the last time staff reviewed the Rules? It's a block of text that begins with Terms of Service, which is hardly what new users need to read about. They need easy, bullet point references on the MOST important items to begin using the site, and then links to details if necessary. - What is the member journey and what information do you present at each new step?
These are the kinds of substantive community management discussions that will drive the community forward and offer a smoother onboarding experience to encourage more valuable, contributory users.

Agreed, but in this case the member is deliberately lying and circumventing the rule against begging by posting the request in the comments and blowing off someone who pointed out that he's spreading misinformation. It does not seem that his intentions are good or that he is an innocent new member trying to do the right thing. The mods here do a great job of determining intent and not coming down harshly on people when it's unwarranted.
As an example, I got snagged one time for uploading a duplicate of a dead torrent. I wasn't even a new member and I knew that there was a rule against duplicate torrents but because it was dead, I thought it would be okay to make the copy I finally found elsewhere available here. I was trying to do the right thing, I was trying to be helpful, my intentions were good. I was warned about it in a nice way and was told what to do next time there is a similar situation. Overall, it was a positive interaction.
On the other hand, you have people deliberately slightly altering a video by changing the name and then uploading it as a different torrent with a slightly different file size to circumvent the rules. That rule had to be clarified to prevent it from happening.
Maybe begging for seed points on torrent pages should be outlawed completely, in the description OR in the comments. Surely that was the intent when it was outlawed in the description but inevitably, someone found a loophole by posting it in the comments.

"- Uploaders who incorrectly miscategorize the categories"
This one is getting a little annoying. Over 10 new torrests in the Straight older category uploaded today looks nothing like older.
-
For real, there's a lot of people like me who share content and upload all the correct screenshots and then put it in the right categories. Yet many users simply download and don't give any seed bonus. For what it's worth just being a porn torrent site, this is WAY too much drama. Puff puff out!
-
Hi, some thoughts:
Agree with what you wrote here. After trying to guide a few torrents to the right direction (i.e. towards what the rules stipulated), I've given up on this vigilante policing. There's just no end to the deluge of poorly listed torrents and behaviours.
I've noticed that torrents that flout the rules get more seedbonus, snatches and interest than torrents try to do everything right. It's a matter of demand and supply, more than the quality of what's being uploaded. The level of care taken by the uploader has little value here. 20GB torrents with the title "HOT FCUCKING GUY JAPANESS" with no filelist or thumbnails can be far more popular than one that was listed with it's proper studio name, full original title, ID number, etc. It's disappointing. But that's the way the site works.
I want be corrected on this, but I think it's due to no disincentive to uploaders not following the rules.
Live and let live. I liken the current state of torrents here to a weekend flea market, not a curated library. Enjoy the festival guys.

Receiving seedbonus is a statistical thing. My current feel of it is about 1%.
i.e. For every 100 snatches, 1 user may offer a seedbonus.
How much is given tho - that's anyone 's guess. So for torrents with <100 snatches. Good luck

Whoa … Deliberate lying! Circumventing the rules! Spreading misinformation! :crazy2: Did the user also steal candy from a baby and single-handedly pollute the ocean?? LOL The intensity of rhetoric that you used is, like, totally disproportionate to the banality of this problem. Maybe it's a slow week on GTRU so we're ratcheting up the forum drama, eh? In which case, oh my god he made TRUMP WIN!
Is there any rule that prohibits a user from requesting / asking / begging / beseeching / pleading / blackmailing for seedbonus points in the description, in the comments, in the file title, or literally anywhere on the torrent file? I haven't seen one myself, so I look forward to clarification from a moderator.
If there is, then bring it up with the user and we can go on with our merry lives before - gasp - more misinformation is spread. If there isn't, then this entire topic has been a thoroughly unnecessary and trivial complaint by zbret who got annoyed (which is honestly a personal problem
for zbret, not a problem for the community or for GTRU staff). -

See Rule #11 here about pleading for points:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rules.php
Any information, e.g. the title, categories, pictures and description must correctly represent the content of the files shared with the torrent and avoid misleading members about the content. This applies as well to additions, votes or comments made by other members than the original uploader. In doubt, rather than providing wrong information, omit it.
At least one good quality picture is mandatory for the torrent presentation.
Torrents in the Themed Movie and TV / Episodes categories need to indicate the audio language(s) and, if present, the subtitle language(s), including if optional, forced or hardcoded in the video.
Descriptions in the title such as "Hot!", "Must See!", "Best Ever!", "New" or "Latest" are unacceptable. The comment area is the only appropriate place to give your personal opinion of the content or otherwise make personal requests. Include the release date, rather than "New", "Latest", etc. …
Do not plead for bonus seed points in the description area.
Remark: Please provide as much information as possible. For details read the Guidelines in the Upload-Guide.. -

Yeah, I agree, and it's unfortunate. This is one of the reasons I will never start another tracker, I don't have the patience. Also, this is why we should be careful of what we read about trackers from the outside. Many of these MF want to badmouth other trackers, but in reality, they're bad members who are burnt, because they where not allowed to do what they like. So, like I always say, if a bitch is not going to follow the rules of a tracker (which all have them, and have the right to do whatever the fuck they want to do on their tracker), than those individuals need to get a fucking VPN, and use public trackers, where no one gives a fuck). Personally, I would have banned that user, after a swift warning. Anyone signing up for a private tracker knows how they work. Absolutely no one should be begging like a homeless person for points. There is content all over the internet that can be shared. No one should be fucking begging.

Regarding the discussion:
While I find the begging annoying as well, if you read my very original post, you will see my concern was about what seemed to be misinformation. When I tried to tell the uploader what he was saying in the upload comments could be misinterpreted, he replied to me not to have so much drama, which I interpreted as a flippant in your face response to close down the conversation. I reported it to the mods to ask what their thoughts were on it, and they took care of it, with part of the solution being to suggest Freeleach to the person. Finally, while I 100% agree that the other issues (bad uploads, miscategorization, etc) exist so the issue I raised isn't a valid issue is not a valid argument and really belongs in another thread.I like the idea of updating the site rules to eliminate begging complaints - though I think it would be a nightmare to police - but I really dislike the implication that someone can't UPLOAD without points. That is the core of the misinformation I've reported.
PS: Regarding the other issues mentioned (miscategorizing, etc), I use the "report" feature, and figure if people keep up on it, the cheaters won't get their torrents to stay for long. That process works fine in my opinion.
With that out of the way, here is another similar offender should the mods wish to have a look and decide how to handle this. My thanks also to them for their prior assistance:

"Send me seedpoints so I can keep sending videos of these and other pornstars"Make no mistake, it IS a valid complaint. And I really do hope that members are not blonde enough to give away points to people like these. Like any other beggar out in the streets, they will keep asking, and asking. This is one of the reasons I don't run a tracker no more. It's incredibly hard to find good members who appreciate what torrents are, and truly sharing, and not taking.
I wish that staff member came down on that individual harder. Anybody begging for points, couldn't have been a valued uploader.

What the fuck are you talking about!! The only obligation any member has to anyone is to seed! They don't have to be obligated to give you shit!

Using "blonde" to mean dumb or stupid is offensive. You may not care about offending people but doing that unnecessarily encourages people to discount everything you write or say. "Consider the source."

I'm not disagreeing with you but just pointing out that "older" is subjective. When you are 60, 40 is young. When you are 20, 40 is old. To a 16 year old, anyone over 21 or so is old.

I disagree, because as grown adults, we should understand what context is. Second, anyone who understands at least half of what I said, would know I'm speaking the truth. And I will not apologize to anyone who is offended by truth. Torrenting can be serious business, and I'm soooo tired of people only focusing on downloading porn to jerk off too, and not bothering to research in detail on how to protect one's self, or how not to get abused by lairs on torrent sites. BTW, cherry picking specific benign words people use is also a bit childish.

Here is another example (don't know if it is the same poster):
"i need seedpoints to upload some other interesting videos"
At some point the suggestion was made to turn them onto Freeleaching their torrents to make the seedpoints they crave, but I have no idea how that would help, particularly if they don't have enough seed points now.
Again, while the begging is mildly annoying, it is the implication the site won't let them upload without SB points - the deception that I dislike.

you can download Freeleech。
