We're a global community, let's share what's going on globally.

Here in Japan, there's a cool art exhibit going on in the rural areas where they grow rice. It's kind of like the Snow Festival but with rice. Pretty cool. I'm thinking about going up there this weekend.

Today is a major election in Japan, a Trump/Clinton level battle (Koike/Abe) but a typhoon is approaching and it's POURING outside atm. I have no idea how they're going to handle this as the typhoon was downgraded to major tropical storm.

So my plans are to watch to the events unfold on tv.  ;D

Canada and the USA are gearing up for Hallowe`en next Tuesday.
Are there other countries that celebrate it?  I remember it wasn't a thing in Germany when I lived there.

They've been getting into it more and more over here in Japan. It's not nationwide, though in rural places English schools and day care centers often hold a costume event. (The standard costume is to dress your kid up as a pumpkin – 1000's of pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!)

In Tokyo, Shibuya turns into, more or less, a block party. Since you're allowed to drink outside here, lots of partiers in pretty good costumes taking selfies for Instagram.

Over the weekend, other large cities will hold Halloween Parades. This is where the cosplayers come to show off their costumes for  Halloween. Kawasaki has a pretty big one.

Wherever you are in Japan, Halloween is whatever weekend falls before the 31st.

The kids trick or treated during the day a few days ago.  It's Halloween night and nada is going on.  The same scary movies.
