Erasing history… doomed to repeat it

Dumb ignorant people are… dumb and ignorant. A fait accompli.
The moonbats are currently venting their frustration in not being able to destroy Trump into trying to undermine and destroy the history of the country. To be blunt, they want to erase the history of the USA prior to about 1960.
This is not new, but is getting ridiculous now. Those who are ignorant or ignore history are doomed to repeat it's failures and disasters.
I have two examples to share. In printed media and cartoons - even animated ones, the caricatures and stereotypes of characters were often extremely degrading. Black people were portrayed either as being monkeys or primitive jungle savages or lazy childish fools. Japanese were portrayed as being evil, sinister, and lacking souls. Italians, jews, Germans, muslims all got some stereotypical treatment. To understand history, you have to know how people were thinking at the time. If you search on Youtube, you can find some examples of old-timey cartoons that you will NEVER see on television anymore because they are not politically correct.
Also, at the university I attended, they had a large collection of old books from pre-1900 which they kept in glass casee. Those books and music compositions were mind-bending. Again, other than some hidden away, untouchable archive - you will not see any of that stuff anymore.

I don't need to see statues of Robert E. Lee everyday in PUBLIC places to know he was trash and he supported American slavery. I don't need to see the Confederate Battle flag everyday in PUBLIC places to know it's the battle flag of the Confederacy that wanted to secede from the United States of America. America WON the Civil War and we are a part of America now. Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, was opposed to the Confederacy, so why is the Republican party trying to hold on to memories of the Confederacy? Democrats were the party of the Confederacy, right? So if there were no party realignments, why is it the Republican party that is now fighting to preserve the memory of disgusting traitors like Robert E. Lee?

You are completely out of your mind… as I pointed out.. 89% of the founding fathers were slave holders including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. The only ones that were not were those that could not afford them. If you want to get biblical.. even JESUS approved of slavery.. as long as you did not enslave your OWN citizens. He was fine with enslaving people of neighboring countries - in other words.. non-christians. Lets say you were a black guy in the 1800's in Africa. Would you prefer to come to the USA as a slave... or stay in Africa and be executed? How many American slaves returned to Africa when given the opportunity? VERY FEW.. some did.. that is the origin of the country Liberia. Lincoln wanted all black slaves to be sent back to Africa. Thomas Jefferson pulled a fast one.. he had his male slaves castrated, and was fucking the black women - and having children with them.. all the while committing adultery on his wife.
Moonbats say.. this isn't the 1800's.. it's not the 1960's. They would also say this isn't the 1980s.. the 1990s, the 2000s.. or even 2016. They want to hit the reset button and forget about everything that happened in history up until Nov 8, 2016.

The 1st person in the US to own chattel slaves was a black man, Anthony Johnson. He himself was originally an indentured servant who did well for himself after his indentured servitude ended.
Slavery in Africa and the middle east have been going on for a few thousand years and hasn't stopped.

The amazing this about history in the minds of the typical conservative, is it is actually just nostalgia for a past that on careful analysis, never actually existed.
Take for example the confederate statues. I read that most of them were put up relatively recently in another burst of conservative nostalgia for a non-existent mono-cultural past that is the typical conservative nut job fantasy world.
They certainly don't date back to the US civil war and they don't represent any real history. They merely represent conservative fantasies.

They hate the fact that the 1st chattel slave owner was a former indentured slave and black man. He felt that offspring of his indentured servants were his permanent property (aka chattel slaves).
