#45's Supreme Court Nominee Should Be Blocked

Republicans made the argument that had Hillary one, they would have blocked her SCOTUS nominees for 4 years. Ted Cruz even said there was no need for a 9th justice. Deny #45 everything until he (1) changes and proves he's worthy of the office he's holding and (2) releases his tax returns and divests himself from every company he's involved with to remove all doubt about Russian ties. Scalia died early last year; therefore, President Obama should have been able to pick his successor and his pick should have been given a FAIR HEARING.

Obama should have been allowed to pick Scalia's replacement, unless that person was deemed unfit based on their own merit.

I agree. Obama should have gotten to make that appointment. The whole idea that the Senate is allowed to just not vote is absurd. If the person is qualified then they should be required to vote. That goes for Trumps cabinet appointments too. The Democrats are behaving like children. The only person who is clearly not qualified is DeVos. They gave her the courtesy of a hearing. That's all she should get.

Looks like McConnell may kill the whole thing.As polarized as the country is, and thanks to 24/7 news channels it is only going to get worse. The Democrats can obstruct for the next 2 years and see how that works in the mid-terms, but if you go out to middle-America, it won't end well for them. People can quote whatever poll they want, but let me tell you, outside of the coasts and metro areas, Trump's support is stronger than it was when he was elected. They aren't just happy with him, they are beyond thrilled. That doesn't look good for Democrats in red states in 2 years, especially if they look to be nothing but obstructionists.

The seat has been vacant for a year for what reason again?? That seat was supposed to be filled by President Obama, not #45. #45 was not elected February 2016 so you're 100% wrong about elections having consequences. The election that effected that open SCOTUS seat was the election of 2012. Less than half of the voting population turned out to vote in November 2016 and out of that, a majority of them voted for Hillary Clinton, not #45. There is no mandate and that seat will remain open until Republicans indeed get enough seats for 60 votes or if McConnell changes the rules. If the Republicans win enough seats in the 2018 midterm, then the seat will be filled then. Until then, it will remain open and the Republicans are to blame for that. Merrick Garland was not given a single hearing and you can shut up about a Biden rule because no one gives a flying folder.

Nope, there have been marches and protests in rural areas of states like Utah, Iowa and Ohio. The statehouses in those states have been overrun with protesters, including many who voted for #45. There are Facebook groups and Tumblr blogs dedicated to the thousands and thousands of #45 voters who are now regretting their votes for him because of the crooks he nominated to run various departments. In my own state (South Carolina), I've witnessed a lot of #45 voters removing their bumper stickers and signs supporting him and Pence. And I can promise you the moment they realize ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, and it's taken away from them, #45 will lose much much more support. If everyone was as thrilled as you say they are, then why no celebrations? Why isn't everyone out celebrating, including the people #45 put in charge? No one is happy and celebrating his win. No one in any important elected office is openly defending him and what he is doing right now. There is a dark cloud around all of this and he knows it.

You are wrong about that. The reason Trump won is because too many people though Trump would lose and they stayed home. Plus Trump had those 3-5 million fraudulent votes.
Next election the Republicans don't have a chance. America will be such a mess by then. The Republicans better get as much done as possible because they aren't going to have any real power again for decades after this. It will take that long to clean up their mess.
