"Official Warning" pop-up
-
I've been getting a pop-up message that appears every now and then when I click on a link on the site. ???
It started a few days ago, and I was told that the message implied in the pop-up was not generated as noted. :-
Any insight to this would be most appreciated!
test sample - not a real warning

I have absolutely no idea what this is about. Â I haven't given you any warnings on your account.
I'll give you a "sample" warning so you can see what it looks like.
The warnings have different colors, going to red, depending on how serious the level is.

Thank you again raphjd for your time, as well as again affirming and informing me, after seeing the screenshots of the "Official Warning"–that it is indeed not.
...and I do appreciate your offer of the "sample" warning, but I think I'm good, so if it's okay with you, I think I'd like to pass on that. :afr2:
Thanks again!

Ok, I removed the sample warning. Don't worry, it has no effect on your forum use. I just wanted you to see what happens when you get one.
Forum and site (torrent based) warnings use different systems. It's been absolutely ages since I did site warnings, so maybe it's a part of that from the last site upgrade??????? But why would it have my name attached????

Well, just to let you know…
Just now, when I checked for new replies to my posts, it was this one from, to which I'm replying. When I clicked to view your reply the warning popped up...oh well…thank you again.

Just my to euro cent and some wild guessing.
As far as I remember Ellis had got one prior warning in the past (which since long expired) when engaging in a flaming war with another member. He complained that the other member involved didn't get a warning.
Now the guessing part: The forum PM system has been set inaccessible (e.g. I've got 10 PMs there without possibility to read them or delete them) to protect the member's privacy. Perhaps the forum system sends a PM when a warning is issued and due to some forum updates in the background, that released a new PM notification.

Just letting you know, I got the pop-again when I clicked the link to a forum post a few minutes ago.
This time I didn't just click OK. I waited for the "waiting to connect to the site" status was through, but it seemed like it was not going to "connect" after about a minute so I just clicked OK.
Although this is not the screenshot of the most recent pop-up, it's the same in all respects.

Please do not check the box "Show a popup when you receive new messages?" in your forum profile's "Personal Message Settings".Â
I've unset it for you.Â
The forum PM system is disabled, anyway.

Popper's comments make sense.
The built-in forum PM system had a security flaw (don't ask, I'm not a techie) so it had to be shut off to protect our members.
