Illinois Man Willing To Be Fired for Refusing to Watch LGBT Diversity Video
-
He looks like a Big Ole Bottom to me.
-
I don't know…
Firing christian lunatics over such a thing will only make them more lunatic.
On the other hand: an employee in social service is expected to do the trainings that are necessary but then again that guy is (just) an IT guy, with no responsibility towards people. He looks like a Big Ole Bottom to me.
Yepp, when I see him: better bottom than top.

In that link he said and I quote
"He added that he has LGBT friends and family members and has “no animosity towards anyone.”
sort of contradiction

Sort of goes with there go to saying.
Hate the sin, Love the sinner.
-
Maybe his gay family members get a spanking when he catches them surfing forums like this.
-
As someone who refused to take part in an 'equality' training exercise I have some sympathy with his action but not his reasoning
-
He knows his bible in justifying his hate, but he doesn't know that he is supposed to "render unto caesar".
-
Fire ha!
-
A few things about this:
“I would argue that it’s not a training video. It’s promoting an agenda and a lifestyle that I simply don’t agree with.” - how would he know that if he hasn't watched the video?
AND
"I refuse to certify sin," says prideful clean-shaven glutton in a cotton-poly blend shirt.

Ha ha ha, yes, people say that all the time and I always love that. I always want to speak privately with these gay family members and so-called gay "friends" about how non-biased he is – I think we all know what the result would be in the case of this guy.

If there really isn't a video for literally any other minority then why would they REQUIRE you on threat of losing your job to watch it? I guess in Illinois, it's bad enough that they need a video for gay people. Hoping people will read this and consider the nuance in what happened. It is a workplace REQUIREMENT to watch the video which is why he's being punished. You don't punish people JUST for being close minded.
-
A lot of losers in this world.
-
I don't care. You guys are always trying to victimize yourselves, and your weapon against straight man is desperately try to proof he is secretly gay. That's it. Always.

Total agreement. 100%

I'm guessing they made the video because people at the firm weren't following the law with gay people's social security dealings. They wouldn't have made this video if there wasn't a problem that needed to be addressed.

This is a case of indigestion, and it is going to hurt the GLBT whatever community we want to call ourselves these days. Like Bette Midler said, gay people just wouldn't shut up these days. It is true. Everywhere you look, it's gay this, gay that, trans this, trans that. First of all, it is PC overboard. You can't call each other names without an "apology". When was the last time you and your friends aren't calling each other "fags". Really? That fragile? Boo Hoo.
Don't take me wrong. The gay community has achieved a lot throughout the years, especially in the past five years or so. The problem is, we've over achieved in some areas. There will always be people who disagree with us, or dislike us. We don't have to please everyone. The case here is, you don't like it, I'll jam it down your throat, watch this fucking video or else. That's not education. That's not teaching. That's not giving people choices. That's not democracy. Most straight people still don't have the capacity to understand us, so if you need to force them to say yes to everything we say, it is a huge stretch. Never mind something that difficult, try to get your neighbor's kids to eat vegetables without making a fuss. Try as much as you want, when they say no, it's a no. So what's next? Gay people in the work force being forced to watch a pussy video, or else??
It's cases like this that put us in bad lights. It's almost we always want to have the cake and eat it too. It portrait us as being high maintenance, whinny and vicious. Give people time, and give them choices. Like Alyssa Edward says, we can all agree to disagree. Honestly I don't necessarily like seeing where our so called community is heading. It used to be a difficult time but in a way more tolerant. These days, we are sub-dividing and sub-dividing for sub-dividing's sake. We are running out of alphabets to "represent" us. These alphabets have lost their meaning these days. How can you sub-divide yourself so much and call yourself an all inclusive community? Until the day we don't need these alphabets, we are honestly moving back to the dark age.
Just something to think about, there are people out there with various diet needs, whether it is for their religion or their physical needs. For instance, Jews eat Kosher, vegetarian doesn't eat meat, Muslim don't eat pork, etc etc. Can we jam meat down a vegetarian's throat or tell a muslim that he must eat pork, or else?? Why is this case any different?

I guess I don't understand why there needs to be a separate LGBT diversity video. Why not just have a diversity training programs that includes all groups?
-
To the self loathing, we are asking for equality, not special rights. Unlike women and other minoirities, we have not asked for quotas and AA. We just want to be treated the same as anyone else, under the law.
I've had to watch shitty videos about "equality" and "diversity" that didn't include people like me. So why is it now bad to have those same videos include people like me?
Before you bitch and moan about GLBTs wanting equality, you need to bitch and moan about all the other groups that have special rights under the law.

Perhaps it is in direct response to employee attitudes?
