Low Seeded Torrents
-
hi guys
i was wondering if there was any way to get something that is poorly seeded to go faster, and or get new seeds?
-
Hi,
I'm assuming you've already tried clicking the "Reseed Request" button? (ONLY ONCE EVERY FEW DAYS, please?) …that will send a maximum of 120 PMs to members who had downloaded this in the past couple years...
If you've got the bonus points to spare, you can make the torrent Freeleech, which will get MANY people onboard (downloading)... theory here being that if they can download faster than you... they'll be seeding soon, while you're still downloading. You'd have to test this theory to see if it brings an actual advantage to your situation... "Results may vary" lol
Take care,

I may be wrong but I think only the people who have already made a comment are informed that a new comment has been added, not everyone who has downloaded it.
The message that goes to all and sundry is the reseed request

Huh! I've had that thinking wrong for some time, then; tested it, and seems you're right, thanks for the correction… and I'll correct my original post...
The Reseed Request is capped to 120 members, if I recall properly...
Thanks again,

I couldn't remember what the cap was which is why I was suitably vague

The Reseed Request sent by the "Request Re-Seed" button goes to the up-to 120 last known members having completed the download.
However it does not go to the original uploader (unless his torrent client has sent a completed information and he's still within the 120. Normally the uploader isn't starting download and therefore doesn't complete it).
A comment made to a torrent generates a PM "New comment on …."style to the original uploader (if known) and other members who have commented. The "Please reseed this torrent." comments when we test a torrent for being dead is to get the original uploader's attention and usually combined with a reseed button click.
