Complete noobie, no idea what I'm doing?
-
EDIT: I got it to work, people can ignore this.
I just came to try and download a video and after making an account, tried it out. However, it wouldn't open and after looking at the forums I keep seeing words like "seeds" that you're supposed to have and torrent websites among other stuff. So I'm not sure, but it sounds like I need a torrent program to open the files I downloaded? I tried uTorrent but it wouldn't open and then got removed by Norton Virus. And I have no idea what "seeds" are, I tried looking at the FAQ and nothing was there that really explained them.
I just wanted to simply download a video, but now it sounds like this is way more technical than pressing a download button _

Lollyboy, I see you have worked out that you don't download movies from here. You grab a torrent and and open it in a torrent client. uTorrent is about the easiest.
Now you have your first download, you need to keep an eye on your ratio. It is very easy at the start to download all sorts of things and forget that this site has rules that you have to share back.
The easiest way is just to keep your torrent running once you have finished downloading, letting others seed from you.
If you need any other help, just give a shout

What do you mean keep my Torrent running and letting others Seed from me? Do I have to like, upload my own files now or else I get fined or something? :-[

Sorry, I knew I hadn't explained it very well.
On this site, like many others you need to keep a ratio, that is you must share what you have downloaded with others. If you don't keep a sufficient ratio you lose your right to download the new movies (but you are not kicked out of the club :)).
If you go to your profile via the link in the top left corner under the blue line you will see what you are expected to do. It can be difficult when you start out.
You do not have to upload your own files, although that is always very welcome and is a good way to increase your ratio.
What I meant in the message was, once you have completed your download, DON'T stop your torrent running. Just leave it running in the background if you can and it will seed to others downloading the same file and increase your upload credit

So basically once I download something I just keep BitTorrent (The torrent program I installed) open and running as long as I can? Okay, that's pretty easy and simple enough.

Yup, just make sure you are seeding what you have downloaded. Don't worry if no-one downloads from you all the time.

Quick last question, what if I don't download something in a really long time?
-
Doesn't have to be quick or last
Then you don't get any new porn to watch!
I'm not sure I follow you but there is no need to download anything. The only rule is that if you do download then you must share a proportion back for others to share. That is why you need to keep seeding those torrents you have downloaded.

Haha, now I'm the confused one. I thought you had to download the video in order to seed stuff (I still don't really know what Seeding is lol)
-
Seeding 101 (no, I have no idea what that means but I believe it is a US term for beginners, please).
Seeding is something you haven't done and I don't know why.
The general term means that you are sharing stuff on your hard drive with people trying to download the file in a torrent.
It comes in two basic flavours. When you post a torrent as the original uploader you seed the torrent until there is enough information shared among the downloaders that everyone can complete (please don't ask).
Now we come to you. If you, as a downloader, have grabbed the complete file(s) you become a seeder if you leave your torrent client running with that torrent. In other words, don't just stop things because you have a complete file, there are others in the queue waiting for what you have.
Just to complicate things a little, all the while you are downloading you should (if you have your settings right) also be passing on (seeding) pieces to other downloaders.
You have managed to download 529MB without anyone wanting anything from you. Not a capital offence but enough to get your download rights disabled if you don't allow people to have a share of what you downloaded.
Try restarting your download stuff in your client so that it shows as 'seeding'.

Yeah, I figured that out now. Too bad I still have to download them to seed, my computer doesn't have much space left and all the videos I download to get my ratio up I'm never gonna watch
-
There is not much point in downloading stuff just to get your ratio up…unless they are freeleech movies. Even less point if you don't want to watch them anyway.
Just keep the torrents you have already downloaded seeding in your client.
-
There is also the option to get your ratio up by uploading a new torrent to the system. That can sometimes get a little sticky though (no pun intended)

They're all freeleech movies, which is why I probably won't be watching them

freeleech doesn't mean they aren't worth watching, i often make torrents free leech if I have downloaded it but cant get my ratio up, i then use my seed points and make it freeleech.

Ditto. If I grab a movie that I think deserves a wider audience, I often make it freeleech. That way I get the movie for 'free' as it were and help others with their ratio with a bit of luck
