Water makes you thin?

does water help you lose fat?

Not necessarily, what seems to make you loose weight when drinking a lot of water is that lots of times drinking water makes you feel more full. Although there is some evidence that drinking lots of water may have a positive effect on a person's metabolic rate, so their is that to consider as well.

When drinking cold water the body needs to spend more calories in order to balance the temperature, but i don't think only that can be effective

If you drank a litre of ice water, your body would spend a whopping 37 kcal to heat it up to body temperature. Not very effective, plus there may be other side effects of which I'm not aware.
I have heard someplace that if you're not drinking enough water, it can make it harder to lose weight – I think because your body isn't able to flush away something or other as easily, or something like that. I have no idea if that's true or not, but staying properly hydrated is a good idea in general.

I agree with Aleksander. It's probably a case of feeling full and eating or drinking less of other things, leading to less caloric intake overall.
