One thing to think about it is having money sometimes saves money.
Examples (for Americans) is having your washing machine and dryer is a large upfront cost, but if you're spending $20 every week to two weeks the laundry machine would have been paid off withe room to spare.

Or another example is that often times poor neighborhoods have inadequate grocery stores, that can be more expensive then a costco run for example (The membership as well is a large upfront cost)

with poverty you tend to buy poor quality food.

poor quality food contains too much sugar or fat but not enough of essential minerals and vitamins. so as your body is missing those you tend to compensate eating more of your cheap food in order to get more of these essential elements but it doesn't work so well and you become obese and with problems due to missing key vitamins and minerals.

Salt as well. At least in the United States, you have to seek out specialty brands to find food that's not loaded with high amounts of sodium.

Yeah, Healthy food is more expensive than cheap TV dinners

At least for small families/bachelors. For large families its the opposite, but the time and effort of cooking is alot more, especially since you are also more busy
