Rationator 3.0 Torrent Download Permissions

I really, really like GTRU, but I just got hit with this torrent download limit. While I understand the need for it, it's kinda irritating, considering that I'm way over my the minimum ratio (1.195, minimum: 0.80), and I've also uploaded torrents to the site. For someone like me, who isn't teeter-tottering on the edge of the minimum, and has uploaded multiple torrents, it would seem to me counter-productive to give me a download limit. Like now, I have a list of torrents I want to download, yet I can't for 24 hours, which makes me want to hop over to another torrent site to download them, since I'm basically locked out of downloading GTRU torrents for 24 hours.
And it's not like seeing more will help me. I'm already maxed out. I have the highest allowed torrent downloads (30), so at this point, I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to seed, except for out of the kindness of my heart. Now, I'm not going to stop seeding, but it's still irritating that I have to either wait for my torrents (and my dick doesn't want to wait, ya heard me?), or get them elsewhere until tomorrow. <sigh>Shouldn't only proven serial leechers have these kinds of limits, not those of us who have maxed ourselves out because we're far above the minimum, and have already uploaded enough torrents to max ourselves out of the daily "allowance"? My dick is aching. I need new material. HELP! ;)</sigh>

I HATE “daily download limit” rule
and I REALLY Can't see the benefits of doing so -
I HATE “daily download limit” rule
and I REALLY Can't see the benefits of doing soYou shouldn't feel limited, because your share ratio will allow you to get daily 25 torrent files, while it looks you complete less than 4 downloads daily. I don't see how these allowances will be exceeded by you.

I really hate this new rule…. IT SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I only check this site once a week. So, when I want to download torrent files, most of the time it would definitely exceed my torrent download limit!. It sucks! Remove it, or else all of us will experience less seeders and leechers for every torrent…

Hi I have problem with the torrent download limit I get this message
You downloaded 8 torrent(s) in the past 24 hours
You are allowed to download 8 torrent file(s) per 24 hours. This is based on your share ratio of 1.555 and 0 uploaded own torrent(s).
More infos about our ratio system can be found here
However I have only downloaded 4 Torrents In the last 24 Hours
-
The system did count 8 downloads of a .torrent file, means 8 times clicked on the "Download" button or the three green down arrows in the "Search" or "Browse" lists …

I too am not particularly fond of the new rationator limits on .torrent file downloads… I'd much rather have it the other way due to the fact, that I'm good about keeping my ratio at a reasonable level, and the fact that even though I download the torrent files, it doesn't mean that I start the torrent immediately... I'm good at keeping track of my ratio... Anyways, I know the admins have their reasons. But for those of us, that do what we are supposed to do by keeping our ratio up, and managing our downloads, it's a major hinderance. Especially when there are free leech torrents to grab. Sadly it seems as though, those of us that are aware of our ratio, are being punished for those that aren't.
Just my 2 cents.

There will be a change in the implementation, which will allow members with good share ratio more torrent file downloads.
Means not based on a members minimum share ratio, but on it's actual share ratio.

well the only torrents I clicked on to download was the torrents that I actually downloaded which was 4 here are the dates and times
2013-08-02 02:21:38
2013-08-02 02:37:23
2013-08-02 02:39:38
2013-08-02 02:44:13The last torrent I downloaded before those was on 2013-07-27 22:12:48 a good 5 days later
How long do I have to wait before I can download again.
Also I don't mean to be rude buy this But if this is going to keep on happening I might have to consider deleting my account

last I check I get daily 8 torrent files not 25
maybe because my Download amont< 250 GB
due to the new rationator limits on .torrent file downloads
I CAN'T download the torrent files
although I don't start the torrent immediatelyI like to download the .torrent files
managing my downloads on my own terms

The developers built in a security that the same torrent file is counted only once and your amount is manually corrected.
thanks for the feedback. -
There was the word "will" in my sentence, means the changes to the system are not yet effective. They will be slightly different to what I said.
The basic amount of torrent file downloads will still be based on the minimum share ratio of a user. In your case 8.
Then to this amount will be added the difference of the actual share ratio multiplied by the basic amount, with a limitation of the maximum multiply to a certain value, e.g. 3. Further the system maximum will be increased, means own torrent uploads can largely increase the limit.
So in your example:
base amount + ((share ratio - minimum ratio) * basic amount) = torrent files due to share ratio8 + ((1.13 - 0.50) * 8 ) = 13.04 > rounded to next integer = 13
The minimum allowance for users with download rights is 1, even if they don't meet the minimum ratio requirement.

Cheers Popper thanks for sorting this

The thanks belong to the developers, I am just the messenger…

Here is the 2nd rationator formula for personal download limits (with EXAMPLE):
(1) Amount of download determines minimum ratio requirements (if DL = 380 GB –---- minimum ratio requirement = 0.6, allowing for 11 downloads/day), plus
(2) Amount of ratio above the minimum ratio requirement (Actual Ratio = 1.3 ------- subtract minimum from actual ratio = 0.7; then multiply by the amount of downloads per day of your minimum ratio requirement ---- 11 downloads/day * 0.7 = 7.7, round up = 8 additional downloads/day), plus
(3) Number of total uploads (# uploaded torrents = 23, which increases download limit on a 1:1, so 23 additional downloads/day)
TOTAL (Personal Download Limit Per Day) = 11 + 8 + 23 = 42 downloads
MAXIMUM DOWNLOAD LIMIT PER DAY = 50
I would encourage users to consider the many issues faced by the website staff, such as cheaters and seed hogs (seedbox users) that reduce fairness for ALL users on the site. Changes and modification aren't made arbitrarily and typically have good reason/s behind it. The site always listens to feedback to improve. Constructive commenting is always welcome. Whining to whine is never helpful. New developments always requires testing and revision. We appreciate everyone's patience and support as we try to work out a balance between all issues and factors in running the site.

I think these changes are quite reasonable, particularly with the second update of factoring in your share ratio. I may be alone here but downloading more than 25 torrents a day seems exorbitant. And with the formula its not hard to get to that limit.
Also I wanted to know what happened to the most wanted/popular torrents section? Sometimes I would intentionally download crap I wasn't into to help increase my uploaded GB.

I know I'm dumb but this makes me feel even dumber. I haven't a clue what all that arithmetic is about.
I'm not even sure whether people are talking about downloading the tiny torrent file or sharing the torrent behind it.
And if there are 'good reasons' behind any site changes, why not share them with us….please :cry2:

I think these changes are quite reasonable, particularly with the second update of factoring in your share ratio. I may be alone here but downloading more than 25 torrents a day seems exorbitant. And with the formula its not hard to get to that limit.
Surprisingly, several individuals have expressed concern about no longer being able to download 100 torrents a day. WHAT?. . . HOW?. . . WHY. . does someone need to download 100 torrents a day? I think maybe they go for weeks without looking over torrents and then want to do it all at once. Hoarding issues maybe? Just don't know. ;D

I'm not even sure whether people are talking about downloading the tiny torrent file or sharing the torrent behind it.
And if there are 'good reasons' behind any site changes, why not share them with us….please :cry2:A major factor has been hit and runs. An individual opens a new account, downloads as much as possible without uploading/seeding and then dumps the account after it becomes locked from low ratio. This is not fair to other members who take care of their ratio.
Now, this is no longer possible. With this change, if someone wants to do some major downloading, they can only do so after showing good membership behavior over time. However, if someone wants to quickly change their daily download limit, they can rapidly do so by first doing some uploading, which permanently increases the number of downloads per day. It's the fairest way to address the issue, not interfere with good members ability to enjoy the site and to prevent individuals who want to cheat by doing hit and runs.
