Asking For Seed Bonus Gifts
-
why make privacy levels so strong that others can not see/know what you have downloaded?
how does it matter?
where do you control these privacy settings? can I (normal user) change it?i know this is bit off topic… sorry

Sorry but a normal user cannot change their privacy setting. Only Power Users and above can. Why set privacy so high you ask. Believe it or not but some uploaders don't want recognition, they just enjoy uploading good content. Some uploaders don't want to be bothered by endless requests for similar content. Some users are just plain paranoid. If a user needs seed bonus points for help, chances are they are not a power user and you can see their torrents with a few simple clicks.

Something odd is happening here. When I try and see what his levels are set for, I get this:
garjr71's security settings doesn't allow to show you the Profile!
Now, for the privacy settings, look at the top of your screen, right under the gaytorrent.ru banner. You will see this:
Home Browse Search Upload Profile Chat ForumClick on Profile, and you will see another screen with lots of choices. Down near the bottom, you will find:
Privacy level (For Powerusers and above)
Normal (Everything will be showed)
Low (Userprofile will not shown to other users)
Strong (no info will be made available, Profile, Username in peers, uploader name.)And below, you can see what the requirements are for being a power user.
(sorry, I don't know how to inline images yet)

Dear Original Torrent Uploader,
Though we do not have (yet) a rule about asking and thanking for seed bonus points, I'd like to remind our dear members and here especially the so much loved original uploaders (torrent posters), that the torrents got a Description box and not a seed bonus points begging box.
As well general customs on forums on the web find ALL CAPITAL LETTERS writting impolite and as yelling, shouting or crying. Therefore it should be avoided, except to highlight a single word. I think we have a rule about this …
Therefore, please do not ask or thank for seed bonus points on the top of the description and/or in all capital letters.
Please place, if you really think to need to do, a thank you for seed bonus points at the very bottom of the description only.
You can as well use the comments to thank for received seed bonus points.Thank you in advance.

Full Disclosure: I have not uploaded any videos (yet) and currently my ratio is below .300, but I am seeding I promise!
I think if someone is going to upload a vid, then they should be entitled to a little graffiti on their pages, encouraging people to donate. I mean really, its not like real money, and if people like the persons stuff, sometimes you need to be reminded to 'tip', especially if you are a nub like me!
anywho, thats my two-cents. thanks for the great site!
:cheesy2:
-
Well …
Regular original torrent uploader should not need the seed bonus points for ratio keeping, however of course they merit them. They just should not beg for them as they were the poorest of the world, e.g. by putting:
SEED BONUS HIGHLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!
or worse seen in the first line of the torrent description, then visible in the list, too (instead of the start of the description of the upload content).
Actually original torrent uploader are rich by what they offer all of us  and need our love.
and as I said they can put it at the end of the description in not capital letters or a comment (which will reveal their share ratio and seed bonus account >:D )

i love getting seeded fat bonuses from all kinds of random users one after another. after all, it's the acknowledgement that i presented something so special to fellow users that they seed me bonuses is what fulfills my innermost desires and keeps me coming back for more. :hot2:
-
I did that in some of my first uploads,(wrote something like; seed bonus highly appreciated). Not because I needed it, but because I saw other uploaders doing it and I wanted a "piece of the cake" too.
I felt a bit embarrased doing it, almost as if I was poor and had to beg. :-[ That and the fact that my ratio is fine from uploading and seeding made me stop doing it.Personally I seldom give seedbonus to those who ask for it, but I give to those uploads I really like, to show the uploader I apriciate his work and maybe (hopefully) encourage him to upload more of the same. :cheesy2:
And please don't take me wrong,I still appriciate seedbonus, but nowadays I actually appriciate a simple "Thank you" more. What is up with people not taking the extra 2 seconds to press the "thank you" button? I really don't get it…Well thats my two cents, I'm sorry if this was a little OT, but I got carried away while writing.
-
I noticed that while some users with high ratios use the ole "Seed bonus is highly appreciated" line all the time, they also gift nearly all their SBP away. That's OK in my book.
From what I've seen it looks like most people who mention SBP in their descriptions use their points appropriately, either because they could use them or because they like to spread the love or both.
I simply give out points based on whether or not I liked what I downloaded and ignore everything else (well, most of the time), or maybe just a click of the [Say Thank You!] button if it was so so or use the button at least as a gesture to say thanks for sharing. Some people wonder why not many people say thanks. A few might just be lazy, but I don't say thanks if it's total crap. Why thank people for crap? In that case they should thank me for downloading their crap and helping their ratio and/or seeding their torrent.
-
Most of the Seed Bonus Points I've collected are used to reward (or "buy") my requests being fulfilled.
I don't need them for my share ratio, because I upload myself torrents. I' don't ask for them, but I always like them as a sign of appreciation of my uploads.
-
Recently it seems that every over post has a "seed bonus appreciated" tag.
It has become meaningless to me. I have reverted to my original practice of awarding unneeded SBP as a signal of my desire for more of the type of file uploaded. If the uploader doesn't need the points, then they can in turn gift them to another.
I am trying to make an impression that has more force than a "thankyou" I can freely generate at the press of a button. I want the uploader to know that I am giving them something that has actual value in this system. I have noticed that the "power uploaders" have amazing libraries and appear to get satisfaction from providing downloads that are highly prized by someone.Like all the mods and admins my privacy level is set to strong but I have recieved seed bonus points as other uploading mods.
The idea behind the seed bonus is to reward uploaders for good uploads.
Finally, if a user post a comment in this forum I believe his stats are listed under his avatar. That way you can tell if they really need help from seed bonus points or not.You can't get that information conveniently, if at all, from the torrent blurb

sigh i just spotted a upload with the description "give me some bonus" in the description (not the whole description).
i personally give seed bonus (i know i dun have a lot) to shows that i like based on what i can.
my normal gifts are usually 10% of what i have at the moment and it's to show my appreciation on the uploader for providing a file i like for whatever reason.these descriptions irk me a lot due to it being out of place (descriptions should be on the file and not a place to solicit bonuses)
and make me pretty anal about giving bonus to the uploader … call it reverse psychology if you likeI don't know about the the majority but i would prefer if such personal were places in the comments (i do read comments about the download).
apologies if i offend anyone ... had to get it off my chest. :sorry:

Basically the Staff agrees with you. See for example http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=7208.msg34038#msg34038
Rather than creating another rule (we got already soooooo many), we tried by explaining and PM to regulate the way it is asked for seed bonus. I think that was rather success full, because it has calmed down.
-
Here is another thread that discusses this and it has a poll to vote you mind. If enough members are turned off by seed bonus beggars then we may have to set some guidelines on how they can be asked for.
-
Why ask for seed bonus points anyway? I want the quality of my uploads to be the judge of what I "deserve".
Just my opinion. -

I'm afraid the rot is creeping back in Uwe.
Last week I opened the seach window and at the top were music torrents whose description began SEED BONUS NEEDED AND APPRECIATED. THANKS. I just felt that is so wrong!
It's about as welcoming as walking into a bar and standing next to a drunk shouting "BYE ME A DRINK"
Music seem to be the worst with 6 of the top 7 music postings begin with the begging cup.

465 SeedPointsBut search for seed bonus and the results say that the current crop of uploaders think it is fine and good to have it right in your face.
There was talk when seed bonuses were intoduced that problems could happen if people start to see it as a currency. That is a bigger debate.
Yes there are plenty of rules, some say too many. I did read that and agreed.
But now I would like to see one more.
'Do not request seed bonus in the opening description'
If you can see those words, or some slippery work-around, from the search you are on the wrong side of the community.I'd suggest those uploads are refused moderation until changed.
I'd also suggest any auto-approval is suspended. It's easy enough to remember that we can't post Titan and Lucas titles or anything we know is evil, real snuff, paedophilia, rape.
Remembering not to start grabbing at peoples pockets should be just as easy. -
Perhaps I'm a little mean in that regard. When I see torrents where users are begging for seed bonus points, I just take out the begging
It makes life more appealing that way…

He He, I like your style
And no offence to you my friend, but thats a bit like a caring parent picking up the mess from an unruly teenager.
If they are going to behave like brats, GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE, then the kindest thing to do is show them some TOUGH love! :spank2:

Ok, here's one. It popped up in the suggested torrent box.
BelAmi - Erik Bouna : Brandon Manilow : Julien Hussey ~bareback
the next part of popular bareback series *********************** seed bonus appreciated ********************* thank you ******************************I wonder what was in the mind of the uploader who wrote that description?
