Online Dating
-
Has anyone tried online dating, Im tempted to join luvmatch.org because a friend recommended their website, I am quite shy when meeting people for the first time, any tips please.
-
Get drunk.
Edit: No, I don't have any tips/ideas really.

It made me wonder is really worth to pay the service like Match.com, Chemistry.com. eHarmony.com, and the list goes on.
i have few friend said they use those kind of site and got a date. other half said it didnt work so well for them and regrets that they wasted money on it. I'm not 100% convinced this kind of system will work out so well.
unless the site is 100% free, then go for it.

what about gayromeo ?
-
I have tried it, but in chatrooms not on any of the services mentioned. I had pretty good luck with it…

Thanks guys, I think gaydar is a bit to sex orientated, A bit of romance works a treat.
Sex is always better with someone you love. I just joined luvmatch.org, I will let you know how the online dating goes. Thank you for your replies. John xxxx -
Trouble with most is they are large city biased so us country folk don't get much interest….gay.com may actually be the best for the usa market but I hear it is bankrupt so may be going away. Gaydar is uk-centric(australia too) and gayromeo euro-centric especially germany ...guys4men.com has great forum but lousy dating results and manhunt is a pure meat market but if that is what you want it may be ok. The other sites like gaymatches etc are mostly pay-only so you don't get anything without a subscription. It take a dim view of that and usually that means they have limited reach limited result limited in general - not worth the sub. Other than that there are fetish sites like recon but it's fetish and a date for a relationship potential may be unlikely....hey that's the gay internet as I know it anyway. Someone may want to expand on this or offer their own "go through" of the sites..

i use gaydar for lots of time now, and i have no complains. yeah, there's lot of people looking for sex, but u get there everywhere. there's lots of cool people just looking to meet nice people. at least in my country… i've made some friends from people from there, people that i treasure till today.
i guess it's a matter of luck.. dunno...

I met my boyfriend over at livejournal..
It's not an online dating site though. -
-
I met my first boyfriend on gay.com and have had a few dates through adam4adam.com (but mostly people there are for hookups)
-
i met my bf through Anonidate.
Its a rather secure and free dating site.
Imagine Googlemap,
with people posting their personality/description,
you can try to scope out people within your area.
Get to know them, talk to them before exchanging email, pic and so on.And i am so glad i went there..

any help for those hiding in the closet?

@rR:
any help for those hiding in the closet?
~rRYes… COME OUT OF THE CLOSET!!
(unless you live in a country where they will kill you or throw you in prison for the rest of your life - in which case... MOVE)
-
i can suggest happysexo.com or bearlounge.net , there's plenty of profiles with pics of people all over the world.
i met my last b/f over there, about a month ago.
They're free otherwise (but is on payement on evening hours) try also bearwww.com
(but, of course, we can use this forum for datings too, i think ) -
i met my transexual partner on tvchix.com

sound advice, but not something one wants to hear when closeted.
but being out makes is so much easier on others and especially oneself. most people you know well already think you are anyway and are just waiting for you to make it official.
i lost a couple friends when i came out, but it just showed that they weren't really friends to begin with (they were catholic)
squirt.org is a good one for just hookups.
-
i'd say gay.com and gayromeo are my faves.. i've been lucky for a time or two.. but most of the time its just sex.. so, yeah.. goodluck

I 've used gaydar and gayromeo so far and I've met people from both of these sites.
I'd recommend the latter cause it's a far better website usability-wise.There's no need to have sex with anyone you 've only just met so take it easy.
If you arrange for a meeting with someone you could just go and do what you normally do like having a coffee/beer or whatever.
Being in a familiar scenario of places you normally visit and things you normally do should help you feel less nervous. -
i have a planet romeo account mainly because they bought guys4men and i have met a lot of good straight-acting and closeted friends (with and without benefits) and boyfriends in that site.
you don't have to post a face pic. just chat first, then move on to giving your ym (for example) and chat some more and maybe exchange pics if you have learned to trust each other.
they also have a forum but it's boring unlike the guys4men forum before the site was taken over by planet romeo.
my friends from planet romeo and i have a facebook account where we continue our discussions/rants/banters/etc.
i also have a manjam account but it's not as good as guys4men.
