I've watched a lot of videos (protests, marches, debates, etc, etc) about gun control.

I have to say that the left are the dumbest people on the planet.    The logic used, if they were able to do anything other than spew buzz words, was beyond silly.

We saw a lot of signs about Harry Potter books and using magic, not guns.  And NO.  It wasn't just kids, but leftists of all ages.  The funny part was that many of these conflicted like crazy.

Of course, there was the "safety is more important than freedom" BS.  We've seen this used against many things, including school integration, gays in the military, etc, etc.

Violate the 2nd amendment so I can wear any backpack I want; was another lovely bit of leftist logic.

Just heard a Former Republican Supreme Court Justice say that he'd rather the second amendment be repealed, does that make him a leftist? hmmm

I don't own a gun nor I am really interested. But I understand the relationship that Americans have with guns. American individuality and sense of freedom arises from the fact that an armed citizenry would keep the government in check and protect your other rights such as freedom of speech and religion. That said, there must be a lot stricter application on the law and prevent bad people from getting guns. Omar Mateen was in the FBI radar but was able to get guns. So was Nicholas Cruz. That shouldn't have happened.
On the other hand, the skreeching teen harpies at the gun control march disturbed the hell out of me. It was like replaying of Mao's army of students during the cultural revolution. It felt so manucatured and outrageous that most people in the middle would be able to see through it.

As an Ameircan, I am pro second amendment, but I believe we can should have reasonable gun control legislation, such as national background checks, etc. I won't go to the extremes of the former Republican justice in eliminating the second amendment, or what Republican #45 has proposed in taking guns first without due process.

The problem is, when we make stricter gun laws, it only prevents honest, decent people from having guns.  Criminals always seem to find a way to get guns.

The UK has a 99% gun ban, yet there's plenty of gun crime.

Where are you getting your figures on UK gun crime?

Also. The UK and other countries that have gun control do not have mass shootings every second day!

While Justice John Paul Stevens was appointed by a republican (Nixon), he was notably considered to be one of the liberal judges on the court, against the conservatives like Scalia and Rehnquist. VP Joe Biden (democrat) asked him to be the one to swear him in with the VP oath of office, he was that respected on the left.

Maybe his recent op-ed on the 2nd Amendment alone does not make him a liberal, but his body of writings and opinions over decades does. Using the fact that he was once a republican 40 years ago to make it seem the opinion is more mainstream is just misleading.

I write this all to maintain standards of truth in discourse. I offer no opinion on guns or the 2nd amendment in this post.

Any gun crime with an illegal gun shouldn't happen, according to the left.    So that kids who was shot and killed riding his bike home from football practices shouldn't have existed.
