Judge Hannah Dugan was charged with two criminal counts of "obstructing and impeding a proceeding before a department or agency of the United States" and "concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest," according to a criminal complaint unsealed Friday.
Dugan allegedly escorted Flores Ruiz and his counsel out of the courtroom through a jury door on April 18 after she was told by federal officers from an ICE task force that they had an administrative warrant for the immigrant's arrest.
Dugan appeared in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin on Friday on the two charges. She was released on her own recognizance.
Her attorney Craig Mastantuono said in court, "Judge Dugan wholeheartedly protests the arrest and believes it was not made in the interests of public safety."
Except, "protest the arrest" is not her job.
To figure out law, write it up with explanations in correct orders, or, if she cannot find time & grounds, then to drop her own protest & let cops go ahead

"The Judge learns that ICE was outside to get the guy, because he had been deported in 2013, came back into our country, charged with committing [domestic violence], victim is in court.
Judge finds out. She goes out into the hallway. Screams at the immigration officer. She's furious. Visibly shaken...She comes back into the courtroom...Takes the defendant and the defense attorney back in her chambers. Takes them out a private exit and tells them to leave. While the state prosecutor and victims of domestic violence are sitting in the courtroom."
