How to spot propaganda: Ukraine-Sudzha edition
-
tldr; You spot propaganda when "The News" gives you smoke without fire, implications without facts.
Lips don't match soundtrack, dance & song clash.
It means "The News" wants to mislead you, away from truth.
- What is Sudzha?
Hub for AFU (Ukraine) forces who invaded Russia (Kursk)
- What just happened in Sudzha?
AFU apparently beaten in surprise attack, where Russia troops marched in pipeline beneath Earth, like March 8 or 9.
Video post March 11, "Wagner, Russian Imperial, VDV and Russian state flags [newly raised] in the center of Sudzha."
https://x.com/i/status/1899703478890463613
(before you feel upset - remember it's Russia home territory, they have right)
- What does "The News" say about it?
& how is "The News" propaganda?
- New York Times, lib & pro-Ukraine, Tue 3/11 says, Russia begins, -begins- assault. Remember: Russia got there March 8 or 9.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/11/world/europe/ukraine-sudzha-russian-forces.html
NYT fogs up what already happened. You'd never know.
- Kyiv Independent says, Russia "reportedly" entered Sudzha, but doubtful as "Kyiv hasn't confirmed".
Kyiv Independent fogs up what already happened. You'd never know.
- Sky News, conservative & pro-Ukraine, said, back on March 9, that Russia forces "crept" through pipeline but had great difficulties in "attempt" at attack, "attempt" implies failure.
https://news.sky.com/story/bluesky-13324938
Sky smokescreen -distracts you from central facts-, that Russia forces emerged fine - no later than March 8 - with advantage of surprise.
Sky anti-reality programming, this time, gets plain krazy.
"Footage from inside the pipeline claims to show the elite soldiers swearing and complaining about the commanders who sent them on the mission." - Uh huh.
like soldiers of every attack ever
"Ukraine's general staff confirmed on Saturday [3/8] that Russian soldiers had used the pipeline...[whereupon AFU] destroyed Moscow's units...the enemy's losses are very high" - Uh huh
& what about, "Kyiv has not confirmed" even as late as Tue March 11?
- Conclusion
If you follow "The News", you're misinformed.
You think "Kyiv" either had victory in Sudzha, or is about to.
Nope!
Many such examples.
This post only looks at 1.
@Rapsey-0 You're welcome.

@Rapsey-0 You're welcome.
For what? Anyone who thinks they have an unbiased news outlet is just being naïve. That's why we follow news from all sides.
I'm starting to get a little insulted that you think of me as some clueless one-sided media-sheep
-
"news from all sides"
Still not it.
Spectrum of Establishment Left to Establishment Right?
But NYT (Left), Kyiv "Independent" (???), & Sky News (Murdoch Right) all fogged up Sudzha, shed smoke - not light.
No, best one ever does is to say "This link is what this post goes off of" - understanding that tomorrow could different link / way different news.
"you think of me as some clueless one-sided media-sheep"
Oh I did not..... til maybe now
Never call yourself names.
You did pick up on something. I said
If you follow the news
"Follow" & "if" are key. Follow is, what sheep do.
Be wolf who attacks, shreds, & spits-or-craps-out the news.
See this?
Most people see, meme about media hypocrisy.
But what I see is: Trump body double. Real Trump is taller than Elon. This "Trump" is shorter.

I did not say all political sides. I meant all sides of any given issue. It takes a simple mind to conceptualize everything as left vs right.
There are no unbiased sources of information. and if you only ever look at one side of the opinion spectrum then you have no reliable way of spotting how they are skewing their representation of the facts, or outright misrepresenting them. So you look at various biased sources from every angle and use your own brain to figure out what's really going on, knowing full well that most of the things you see are designed to steer your opinion towards whatever conclusion the author wants.
It sounds to me like you do the exact same thing but you're in the groove of arguing with me which rules out agreeing on any common ground.
Never call yourself names.
"Follow" & "if" are key. Follow is, what sheep do.

Lol... Are you really gonna stoop to that level of nitpicking? Follow, read, keep an eye on, keep track of, occasionally check on the toilet, whatever you want to call it. "Following" the news / current events is what we all do. You certainly do a lot of it based on your posts here.
So much for never calling yourself names... No thanks, I'm not going to imagine myself to be some kind of apex predator of truth. Too self-aggrandizing for my taste. I'll just stick with being a human trying his best to distill truth from the free-for-all battlefield of biased communication.
-
@Rapsey-0 Good luck then.
So much for never calling yourself names
Indeed, my quote did not.
(Be accurate, if you want to give big reaction.
Whoa - is "accurate" a name & did I just call myself that or suggest people to think it about me? Altho I've earned it - NO
)

Thu Mar 13: Media still on "Russia says" or "Russia claims" - means it did happen, & days ago, or they wouldn't even say so little.
CNN plays it both ways.
Search headline - above, most likely to be seen - gives foggy version, but for few who click in, it's suddenly more clear. "Ukraine loses grip on key Russian territory" that Ukraine invaded.
ps. fixed some "Brain fart" date mistakes I made
-
Fri Mar 14: Those who "follow the news" -still don't know-.
Remember: Battle happened at least 3 to 6 days ago. Even CNN had to admit it, yesterday, grudgingly.
Julian Röpcke is "journalist" in Germany. Delusional & wants his readers delusional.

"Ukraine's General Staff on [Sun] March 16 confirmed Ukrainian troops' withdrawal from the logistics hub of Sudzha in Russia's Kursk Oblast, days after Moscow claimed its capture."
https://www.yahoo.com/news/ukraine-confirms-withdrawal-sudzha-russias-102240002.html
So, those who "follow The News" are only 5-8 days out of touch, here.
On other things they may be 5-10 years out of touch.
Some still believe, for instance, that
-
covid vaxx work & don't hurt you
-
Trump is spy for Putin
-
Ukraine war started 2022 with Russia "unprovoked invasion", rather than reality, 2014 with invasion provoked by Banderite-Nazism, CIA-Maidan Coup & Donbas War.
Without confirming the withdrawal with a statement, [Ukraine] General Staff posted the latest battlefield maps on social media, which showed a complete retreat from Sudzha.
