Download Buffer Question
-
I understand the Ratio and see my Download Buffer is in the multi TB range my question is how and when does the Buffer increase?

@dat1hungdude The buffer is simply a calculation of how much you could download right now without any upload traffic before you hit your minimum ratio. It's dynamic, and updates itself periodically. You don't really need to pay any attention to it at all unless you're riding on a knife-edge with your ratio.

What is the Download Buffer:
It is the amount of data you can download before reaching the minimum ratio possible for your account.
Downloading brings you closer to the minimum ratio.
Uploading pushes you farther from the minimum ratio. For Public Trackers, your ratio is irrelevant, you can download infinitely regardless of how much you have seeded. For most private trackers, on the other hand, there is a minimum ratio before you become unable to download.
The formula is:
Download Buffer = Uploaded Data / Minimum Ratio - Downloaded Data
For example, if you have Uploaded 4TB and Downloaded 1.75TB, supposing the minimum ratio is 0.8:
4TB / 0.8 = 5TB | 5TB - 1.75TB = 3.25TB
If you download less and upload more, the buffer will increase, just like it will decrease if you do the opposite.
