Tech Tip - AVOID TOSHIBA computer products!
-
Over time, some computer tech companies improve and some get worse.
I can recover nearly all data from crashed hard drives 95% of the time.
In the past week, I had TWO Toshiba 4TB hard drives crash. On one, I was able to recover all the data BUT then the drive completely failed and is not even recognized by the Disk Management anymore. I even replaced the controller board - which virtually always works - but not this time! Fuck Toshiba!
The other drive was working fine, but died without warning for no reason.Hard drives do fail. Not nearly as much as they used to, but they still fail. BUT.. they are supposed to start acting up to give you a warning before total failure. That drive gave NO indication that it was going to crash. Fuck Toshiba!
Luckily, I keep track of all the files on my hard drives, so I know what I have lost and can find duplicates for almost all of it.
I would add, that I have NEVER had a memory chip fail, and they make 4TB chips and even more. I don't plan on ever buying a hard drive with platters and moving parts in it again.
There is no reason to have a massive amount of storage other than people who take videos that should be encoded to a size that matches their quality.. but instead they intentionally bloat them to 10 times the size they should be just to get more download points.

I 100% disagree ... All products depends on brands relies on care and usage ...
I have Toshiba/Satellite Laptop purchase 2008 24hr operation and 6 Toshiba External portable purchase 2008-2012 2tb each connected w/ no issues ...

@john32123666 I suppose I don't treat my hardware very well... but.. I like hardware that I can mistreat and not have a disaster.
I suspect what might have caused the problems is sitting in my car roasting in the Florida heat. I know that affects my computer, because sometimes my computer gets so hot that it won't boot until it cools off for half an hour.
