This one's twisty, here is a summary.

      • USA FDA, Food & Drug Administration, is supposed to test claims of safety & effectiveness, but NOT give medical orders

      • 2021 FDA's famous "Stop It" propaganda tweet against ivermectin, could be reasonably taken as medical order

      • FDA was brought to court about it....and, so to speak, agreed to Stop It

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has agreed to remove social media posts and webpages that urged people to stop taking ivermectin to treat COVID-19, according to a settlement dated March 21.

The FDA has already removed a page that said: “Should I take ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19? No.”

Within 21 days, the FDA will remove another page...

      FDA can continue to say:

“The FDA has not authorized or approved ivermectin for use in preventing or treating COVID-19 in humans or animals,”

...because of course they haven't. Not FDA job. Never was.

It's up to prescribing doctors. Anyone with a serious medical condition knows, good doctors prescribe "off-label" medications ie. medications with a different or unintended use, for a specific patient - and it's nobody's business. Surely not FDA business.

The strange thing is that California's newish law imprisons and financially destroys doctors for things like this, based on the bad faith actions of government bodies.

@raphjd Looking for update on CA law - it may have been partly reversed.

I do recall, Newsom signed it with the usual empty hand-wringing, where he says "this could affect Free Speech & Medical Privacy" then goes ahead.

Under that CA law, a doctor could have his license stripped for saying things that CDC later endorses. Yup.

Example - if a doctor said "covid is just another respiratory virus, no big deal" - he would have been pilloried for "misinformation" in the four calendar years 2020-23, only to see CDC reverse & admit same in fifth year, 2024. OK - CA & Newsom repealed AB 2098 in Oct 2023, after legal challenges threatened to overturn it.

Back to FDA topic - well - you can't fault Dr. Pierre Kory who takes victory lap 🙂
