Political pioneer and former Rep. Patricia Schroeder (D-CO) died Monday evening. She was 82. Her death follows complications from suffering a stroke.She was one of my 2 favorite Dems, with the other being (former) Sen Paul Simon.
She was the rarest of rare feminists, a gender equality feminist.

The problem I have with feminists is that they are NOT after equality, they are demanding to be compensated the same as men, even when they do NOT work as hard or as reliably. If an employer is forced to pay the same wage to a man as a woman, he is going to hire the man. Men don't get pregnant, take maternity leave, and never return to their jobs. Men are EXPECTED to lift heavy things whereas women are not. It is true that women have far less muscle and can't lift as much, but that is why they are PAID LESS!
I recall a major women's rights convention that was broadcast on TV from a few years ago. The premise of the convention was EQUALITY. Several women took the podium, and one of them proudly declared "My company is staffed by over 90% women!" Where is the equality when she is hiring 9 times as many women as men?
