I have never tried using VPN for torrenting, I would love to ask for some recommendations and help with setting it up!

      Thank you!

        NordVPN
        Private Internet Access

Those are the 2 most popular with staff.

NordVPN did an update (about 2 years ago) that messed with several torrent sites, but they worked with site owners to fix it in less than 2 weeks. PIA had a similar issue some years before and fixed it quickly.

        No VPN is perfect.

Before choosing a VPN, keep in mind how many devices you will have connected at the same time. Most VPNs allow unlimited devices but limit how many can be connected at the same time.

I highly recommend ProtonVPN, and the companion service, ProtonMail. (ProtonMail came first.) They are very transparent about how they work and what they store (as little as legally required for as short as they can legally get away with it).

@raphjd Thanks! someone suggested 1.1.1.1 for me and its working well.
However I am worried would it trigger any issue ? I remember there was a rule about 1 user / 1 IP or something.

1.1.1.1 is a CloudFlare DNS service - maybe also a VPN service too, I know CloudFlare has one... but it's generally an alternate, privacy-oriented, DNS service....

I'm an IT guy by profession - honestly, I haven't looked into the CloudFlare WARP service yet.... but I think I shall 🙂

@bi4smooth I literally just installed the 1.1.1.1 cloudflare app and switched it on and my torrent started working. Which is why I am actually a little worried about how this whole thing works.

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to these VPN / DNS etc.

@gayfox996 I use CloudFare for DNS service as privacy is more of a concern for me. I don't trust Google at all, but as far as mainstream public DNS services, Cloudfare is reliable. Depending on your geographical location, I would download Ping as it works well and can determine which DNS service is best for you going by geographical location. However, your inquiry is about VPN service too. This one is a doozy as I use several of them, lol! I'll list the pros and cons based on my own experience.

                  Cyberghost
                  Pros

                  • Affordable (usually 83% off for three years)

                  • Student discounts are avail

                  • Good for Windows, MAC, Chromecast, Roku, Firestick, etc.

                  • Have a Dedicated IP address option for customers (extra $$)

                  • Can provide an IP address for you to manually put in your Xbox or Samsung Smart TV for a faster and more reliable streaming service. For a full list, visit: Cyberghost

                  • 24hr Customer Service (via chat online)

                  • Have different services for streaming and torrenting services in over 90+ countries with over 4,000 different servers

                  • Have their own private DNS service

                  • I use a Dedicated IP address for "underground" apps like Cinema HD, LiveNet TV for reliable streaming and no buffering.

                  • Have both Open VPN and Wireguard options

                  Cons

                  • Customer service isn't that exceptional, but I'll take what I can get.

                  • Check from time to time if your Cyberghost VPN is indeed working correctly.

                  ProtonVPN
                  Pros

                  • Reliable service

                  • If you do not like Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, etc., they also offer email services with encryption (Check out Tutanota as well)

                  Cons

                  • Costly

                  AVAST

                  Pros

                  • Affordable with other services (e.g., Cleanup) up to 10 devices

                  • Reliable VPN for streaming and torrenting for computers

                  Cons

                  • AVAST firewall protection might have some obstacles at first.

                  • They will entice you with their other services like Anti-Tracking and Driver Update. I'm guilty as charged, but I'm happy with the service.

                  • Customer service can be a challenge as they are located in the Czech Republic.

Overall, if this is for your PC or Laptop for torrenting, streaming, and firewall protection, I would recommend AVAST or even Bitdefender. Cyberghost is good too, but I tend to favor them with streaming and Dedicated IP services.
