Is It Okay to Message Users for A Video You Want?
-
I would like to know if its appropriate to be messaging users (lots of users who you think are most likely to have them) in order to find a video you want- especially if you've already made a request topic on it? I'm worried it might be frowned upon as spam or something…thoughts?

In my opinion, it would definitely be spamming to message LOTS of users that way. There is a board for requests for a reason. What makes you think they are most likely to have the video you want? Why wouldn't they have already uploaded them?
If there were a user who has uploaded a lot of torrents from a particular studio and you were to message him requesting a particular video from that studio, that would not be spam. Two or three users, that would not be spam. There's no hard line but if you are messaging someone based on nothing in particular or because they posted on a certain special interest board or if you start messaging more than a few people, especially in a short period of time, that's spam.
Again, that's all my opinion, and others might disagree.
You might want to ask a mod the best way to go about getting the videos you want. Some of them are very helpful.

Wait…are you saying you can find out what videos a user on this site has been uploading? That's what I'm implying from, "If there were a user who has uploaded a lot of torrents from a particular studio and you were to message him requesting a particular video from that studio, that would not be spam.". I was not aware that kind of information was available. Almost all torrents that I see have an anonymous uploader.
So users who have thanked or commented on torrents that are by the same studio is basically what I'm thinking for your question, "What makes you think they are most likely to have the video you want?". For the question of, "Why wouldn't they have already uploaded them?
" well just because you have a video doesn't mean you'll upload it of course. For example, perhaps a user has downloaded the video I want from a torrent that was available on here but that torrent has since been removed from this site. Or maybe that user doesn't have that video downloaded, but is aware of that video existing somewhere online. Or maybe that user was not aware of the exitence of that video and will now purchase the video online to share with me on here. I could come up with other reasons but those are some off the top of my head.Apologies if this is a stupid question, but is there a quick way to find the moderators to ask about this?

Use the Porn Request section, not PMs.

Very useful. Thanks!

Are there consequences for messaging users like this? What are they?

No, as far as I know that information is not available. I was just using that as an example.

If someone mentioned in the comments on a torrent that they were adding the video to their treasured collection of that particular type of videos and you asked them to share their videos, that would not be spam. Again, my opinion, and others might disagree.

A moderator posted just above stating to use the Porn Request board, not PMs.

I don't see a rule against spamming, but the one time I received a spam PM, the spammer was banned. I would think doing something a moderator told you not to do could also get you banned but I don't see an actual rule against that, either. Generally if you are asking if it is okay to do something you're not sure about and the people in charge say not to do it, it's best not to do it. :police:

Spamming is not allowed, anywhere on the site.
If you did targeted PMs, that would be iffy, depending on how many you sent.

This site has a very good library of nearly every good video there is. If you can't find it, I suggest clicking on "SET ALL", "TORRENT DESCRIPTION" and also "INCLUDING DEAD", and often you will find it. Just because a torrent is "dead" doesn't someone won't start seeding it again to fill your needs.
It is mystifying to me how a small number of movies are not available anywhere.. ever.. for no good reason. The best example of that is the movie "Drilligan's Island" by Manville. Who wouldn't want to see a parody of Gilligan getting his ass fucked by the Skipper?
"The Skipper was a fat old fuck, his pants he did unzip.. He put on lots of coconut oil, lest he break little buddy's hip!" -

"The Skipper was a fat old fuck, his pants he did unzip.. He put on lots of coconut oil, lest he break little buddy's hip!"Oh, the videos I'm trying to find Im pretty sure is not on this site. I already have my defaults set to include "Search in Torrent Name", "Search in Torrent Description", and "Search in Torrent Filename". And whenever I don't find it then, I always then change it to "including dead". Yeah, these videos are more fetish (have a niche audience)- and now (I think I am partially responsible for asking and inquiring about these videos online) their site is unavailable- so its even less likely that anyone will have them now or in the future.

Thank you for yall's replies.
What do you guys think about this: what if I only sent one message (to one user) per day (or every few days/every week)? and what if I rewrote it every single time (it wouldn't be the same exact message/it wouldn't be a copy-paste)? Would that still be considered spam? Would you still advise against that? Would that still have bad consequences? I feel kind of annoying asking these questions, but i want to know what my options are…

I would consider it spam and be extremely piseed off at someone doing it to me. There is a forum for requests.

At this point, I would advise you not to send any PMs to anyone requesting them to share videos, since you asked. Seems like you are trying to figure out a way to do what a mod told you not to do and get away with it on a technicality. That is annoying, since you mentioned feeling annoying. If you want particular videos and they're not available here, try looking for them elsewhere. You're starting to come across like a beggar hitting people up for change in the vestibule of the bank branch after hours.
Your original question was:
"Is It Okay to Message Users for A Video You Want?"
The answer is "NO". -

The responses I got were basically spamming is not allowed, but the definition of what constitutes spamming is very subjective. For example a mod said "If you did targeted PMs, that would be iffy, depending on how many you sent.". That's kind of a vague answer, "iffy", and "depending on how many you sent". I wanted to know if that could be further clarified somehow. What would be the consequences, based on what?
I got mixed answers that were basically "probably no, but maybe yes". That's not begging, that's wanting to be more aware of what the rules are of this site and what methods/options I have available to finding porn videos- something that everyone is on this site for.

You've gone from saying, "In my opinion, it would definitely be spamming to message LOTS of users that way", "If there were a user who has uploaded a lot of torrents from a particular studio and you were to message him requesting a particular video from that studio, that would not be spam. Two or three users, that would not be spam. There's no hard line but if you are messaging someone based on nothing in particular or because they posted on a certain special interest board or if you start messaging more than a few people, especially in a short period of time, that's spam." So basically outlining ways in which messaging people for videos would be OK. So you're answer was "maybe no, maybe yes". It was not "No".
Now it seemed you've changed your stance purely based on emotional reasons that I think are unjustified and unfair- I was just wanting to know if yalls answers could be made more concrete/objective. But whatever…

I had to say "iffy" because no matter what I say, someone will find a way to justify doing something.
The best thing to do is to use the Request section.
However, if there is a person that seems to specialize in X, then you could PM them asking if they have something that is part of X. Here I am talking about people who upload, not just normal users.
