I need seedbonus points to fix my ratio and continue posting videos

"I need seedbonus points to fix my ratio and continue posting videos"
From what I can tell, the above text does not actually violate rules, but I find it irritating and wanted to ask about it.
It seems to imply that if this uploader does not get the seedbonus they require, GT will prevent them from uploading.
However, I've read the rules in detail and there is nothing I can see (or any logical reason why) that GT would prevent uploading for reasons of low seedbonus or ratio. Downloading yes, not uploading.
It seems rather dishonest, and normally I'd ignore it - and I have, for months. I see it time and time again though.
As for begging for seedbonus, the rules state not to do it in the DESCRIPTION, but nothing about in the comments of the video which is where I keep seeing this.
So, there you have it. Thoughts?
-
Your point is well taken. I think you can file it in the same category of 'rants' of which I have posted for people asking others to spend money and download content and then upload here for them.
And WOW! You are sitting on 31,000+ seed points after being here a decade? Crazy!
-
If you send me a link or the name of the person, I'll have a look.
You are absolutely correct that we never, ever prevent anyone from uploading for a poor ratio.
-
Here is one of the requested links. I've probably seen 100+ of these and this is the only one I tried replying to.

Here are some more (all examples are this week, though I expect it is not a full list since I don't look at ALL categories ;D )

https://www.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=19ccca986950725e814ae5c3fcba9b0bd5dd2ccaf1f6afaaSince it only says "uploader" to me I don't know if it is one person doing it, or several.
As a side note, I'm curious why the uploader online name is hidden by the site (just shows as "uploader") but that is another topic.
Thanks for offering to help and for agreeing that it does seem a bit tasteless to continually imply the site is preventing them from uploading.
-
All the links you posted are the same person.
The reason it says "uploader" is because of the privacy setting they have on their profile page.
I put a comment to the one you replied to saying that we never prevent anyone from uploading for a poor ratio.
I'll put this in the staff section, as well.

Here is another: https://www.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=d46199c17821bb5b4fa34b70a8af4f90cf9fbff1e66b1938 - it just seems to me that these uploaders clearly cannot manage their ratio and are happy to take more than they give back….not on!
-
I welcome input if I'm wrong, but in defense of some (clearly, not all) of the struggling Uploaders, it's quite possible they live in a country where Internet provider speeds are slow, or somewhere that charges a lot of money for what we, in more developed markets, consider standard service.
An Uploader, even with slow Internet service, is guaranteed the 1.0, or 100 percent, of their initial upload amount in MB/GB.
However, if a few other members with fast service, or seedboxes, jump in early after the Upload is complete, the original guy will receive very little additional ratio. The torrent system is designed to draw bits and bytes from the most available and nimble sources. That must be frustrating.
–-----------
And this scenario is completely separate from those Uploaders who -- either through ignorance or stinginess -- have speedy Internet connections, yet leave their Uploads seeding just long enough to reach that 1.0/100 percent of the file's size -- and then complain!
We recently had a chap who couldn't seem to grasp that GT is a peer-to-peer exchange, where one can't simply take without giving back via seeding longer, uploading more files, and/or contributing $$$. He was a real gem. And yes, you know who you are.
-
We do try to help members in bad situations like you talked about.
As well as staff help behind the scenes, I always recommend Freeleech to these people.
++++
The people that everyone complains about the ones like the guy who caused this thread. He's being dishonest in his reason for begging. Sure, he needs the bonus points due to his ratio, but he''s blaming the staff claiming we won't let him upload anymore.
-
Nembari (scroll up a few) is correct, and this is why I was hoping to get this stopped quickly, because others might decide to copy him.
I like the idea of recommending Freeleech to them. If there is any way to ask them why they can't upload, it might go a distance to fixing this. I tried asking one [the one I posted the first examples of] but they just accused me of drama.
:cool2:

There is no "if". Every torrent I've uploaded, there's this one client that always immediately leeches the entire file and seeds it at high speed. Same IP. Same torrent program. They begin leeching it within seconds of the torrent file going live on the tracker - I think it is some sort of bot or script designed to get a lot of seedbonus for the person running it by leeching and seeding pretty much everything!

Are you referring to 'brand new content released to the world/internet' or 'content that has been uploaded, taken down/removed, uploaded again a few days/weeks/months/years later'? Because the latter is quite easily possible for almost any of us who have been a member on here for some time.

Newly created torrents, usually brand new content. Not reuploaded.

Thanks for mentioning this. I live in Sri Lanka, and despite having the best high-speed service available here, the entire system often slows down dramatically or stops completely for periods of time ranging from minutes to hours every day. There's nothing to be done about it, but it does affect my ability to both upload and download in a timely way. Part of the price you pay for living in paradise.
-
I think what bothers me more then someone asking for seed points is the people who fill up the boards with a ton of posts just to get their ratio up. Logged on this morning and between last night and today they have posted 80 responses. Screws up the board.
Possibly put a limit on how many posts one can get credit for in a 24 hour period?

Is it paradise if you don't have good internet speeds?? :cheesy2: LOL

Hold on.
With all due respect to the OP, I think this is as much a case of overzealous peer moderation as much as it is a request for help. I'd like to point out the following in defense of the user wanting more seedbonus:
1. He uploaded torrents to seed them, and requested seedbonus points as a donation. I've seen multiple new users who do that, and I don't know why this user should be singled out versus all of the others. If it's a flat rule, then apply it equally. Otherwise, I don't see anything technically wrong with a new user requesting seedbonus points for his contributions.
2. He uploaded multiple torrents to seed. If he uploaded even just 5 torrents (linked to in this topic), my guess is that probably puts him in the upper half of all members contributing new content to the GTRU community. That makes him a fairly valuable new member, to be honest.
3. He didn't post his request in the torrent description. He posted factual, descriptive text that's informative and on point. His request for extra seedbonus was down in the comments.
4. Frankly, this is a pointed criticism to the OP zbret: instead of being annoyed at a new member, why wouldn't you channel your annoyance at something constructive and reach out to the member. You've clearly been a successful member of GTRU for many years, and your experience would be beneficial to help new members. This topic could have been: "How do we help this new user acclimate to the community and be successful."This is a new member who has actually gone above and beyond to contribute new content and done it in a fair way, yet we're standing around criticizing him. That's a poor reflection of the community.
I run my own community, and there is a HUGE difference from my perspective as a community manager between a member who attempts to contribute first and then asks for help versus a member who just begs for content without doing anything. This is probably one of the most valuable new members you can onboard to GTRU: He's posted multiple new files. He's posted informative text. He's uploaded proper screenshots of both large photos and thumbnails. If anything, he has the potential to become a superuser and a major contributor to the community for years to come.

Considering that Uploader Identities are anonymous, how would you know the # of files the Uploaded has uploaded? Hmmm? I put on the breaks reading your argument the moment I read that. I do give you credence for taking your position, and your passion and manner in which you articulated your position. But back to basics, how do you know all of this when the Uploader of any torrent is anonymous to all except staff and moderators?
-
Considering that Uploader Identities are anonymous, how would you know the # of files the Uploaded has uploaded? Hmmm?
While the files themselves are anonymous the comment sections are not. Since the same comment showed up in over seven files it's logical to assume that since the same person was asking for seed points on those files that was the person who had uploaded the files.
Plus
One of the moderators, who does have access to this information, identified six files coming from the same person. -

I don't know, I think this is one of those things, people will interpret the same sentence differently. This also may depend how long you've used private trackers. I don't interpret the subject line to be confusing at all. You have to understand, unfortunately (and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this), the vast majority of torrent users in the torrent world, refuse to read and follow instructions. These people try and defy tracker rules on a daily basis. They sign up knowing that rules exist, yet they feel they're above them. Then try to talk bad about a tracker when they're not allowed to get away with it.
A tracker will NEVER hinder you from uploading (if you're already an approved uploader), unless you have violated a huge rule, like not following a trackers particular uploading guidelines. You have to understand that, many people ignore what torrents were created for, and try to pull on peoples heart strings, and get charity from it. That's the kind of person who would write this.
