I can't enjoy a video if the quality isn't hd, is it just me? Are we used to it because of technology nowadays? I remember it didn't used to be like this…

I'm sure it's not just you but it's not me.  I have different issues with watchability. :blind:

I'll see some videos here that are 3 GB to 6 GB for about an hour's worth of play.  My computer will not play these properly.  They will stutter or pixilate.  Sometimes the sound will get out of synch with the speaking.  I find it unwatchable.  I don't mind some graininess or colourshifting especially with vintage movies.

What secifically bothers you with non HD quality?

If I can see pixels, if it's grainy, it just puts me off.

I watch films that are about 80 to 100 minutes long compressed to about 700 MB all the time.  They play fine although sometimes scenes that are very dark are pixillated. Sounds like you might have a software issue.  Have you tried VLC media player?  https://www.videolan.org/

Since I have a 4K TV, I generally prefer videos in at least 1080p resolution and won't go below 720p unless the video is rare or vintage. Regardless, resolution doesn't matter all that much anyway once my eyeballs are covered in lube.

Personally, I think that happens because the videos were not encoded properly and/or weren't originally high resolution in the first place. I sometimes come across torrents where the uploader has "remastered/re-encoded/upscaled" a 500MB-1GB video, bloating the file size to 3-6GBs for ratio farming while claiming the video is FHD (or that they've masterfully upscaled from 480p to HD/FHD).

I did some spring cleaning of my old HDDs recently and deleted a bunch of .asf, .rm and .rmvb files that I saved for some reason (circa 2012 and before).  In a 4K world, those megabyte videos are now like thumbnails.

My current tolerance is about 1000 kbps data rate.

This, to the point it gets unwatchable because of the stupid blur.

This continues to be a long standing debate. This is due to sooooo many variety of reasons. Unfortunately, the only way to really combat this, is to find a specialty tracker for HD. But as far as I know, there isn't any specifically for LGBT people. Also keep in mind, people are ripping from the web more and more, so, the HD porn you do find, will probably be 720p (the majority). Some of the reasons for those abominable uploads are, lack of knowledge on how to rip a proper movie; a single BluRay movie that has been RIP'd so many times that it's quality have been decimated; people who believe they know WTF their doing and they don't; many people still have much older TVs and don't see the quality or benefit of a full 1080p file; some people come from countries where their internet is horrific.

But, man…. Sometimes I want to bunch someone in the face, for trying to pass a 105MB movie, with True DD 7.1, 1080p  as "HD." AND they really don't understand why people like us get infuriated! It's fucking annoying that we are now in the age of 4K movies, and people are bitching over the size of 720p files. Technology shouldn't go backwards, because individuals are not willing to live in the 21st century. Shit, you'd be surprised how many people don't even know how to do something as simple as update their codecs.

I'm not gonna lie, sometimes, when something's just low quality enough (think vintage), it makes it kinda hotter for me 😛
But when it's blurry to the point where I have to constantly think "man, this is kinda blurry", it does kill the mood

If it's vintage, I personally place them in a different category. People gotta know that when you see something vintage, it will NOT be in HD, and should not be silly enough to look for one. LOLOLOL We'd be lucking enough if we see a DVD quality vintage. And I don't think any porn studio is making that much money, that they're willing to restore many of those old porns, knowing within 5 seconds of being in a porn store, it will be torrented. Classic porn is the only exception as far as willing to download.

Vintage, for me, is placed in a different category from regular porn.
