There isn't a duplicate report in the queue with your name on it, so… either it was approved as valid, and you got your 50 points (which you said you can't recall, anyway) or your report was rejected for being invalid.

I've reported a few dupes lately and then I seem to have not got any bonus points for them in a while? Did I report too many?
-
I am bumping this reminder of Global mod MrMazda just a reminder to all members who are reporting duplicate torrent
Also, do not forget that there are two other things to take into account when determining whether or not a torrent is a duplicate….. They are:
-
Format Container - e.g. are both files in .avi or is one .avi and one .mp4... If the format container is different, then they are not considered a duplicate
-
File Size - If the first rule isn't applicable because the format container is the same (i.e. both files are .avi), then you need to look at the size difference. If the file size is the same, then it is a duplicate. If the file size is different, the newer upload must be a minimum of 10% different than the original torrent in order to not be classified as a duplicate.
-
-
This is also very important as Global Mod Pawpcorn pointed out to me, if you have read Uploading Rule #2
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rules.php#102DUPLICATE files are not allowed and will be removed. You are expected to run a search for duplicates prior to submitting a torrent. Duplicates may be accepted when part of a themed collection. A file is considered a duplicate if an existing torrent has the same format and similar size (<10% difference) and has at least one seeder.
So in case where 1 or both of the torrent is/are dead, you cannot make a dupe report.

Lately I've noticed duplicates with a twist; a dupliacted file, plus a zip file. In the example i give below there's nothing in the description indicating what is in the zip file. Would such a case be considered a dupliacte?

ben,
In most (but not all) cases, the zip file contains photos that the studios provide alongside the video on their sites.
In your instance, you can click on the "Num files" and see that the zip is "SS_XavierRyan_BillySaint_JustinCross_2400highres.zip". The 'highres' is an indicator of high-resolution photos.
Whether one of these posts counts as a dupe, hope you get a response.

Same file size (the video) and format, yes, it is a dupe. However there is an exception to this rule, when a single torrent is also in another torrent which is a part of a themed collection then it is not consider a dupe.

There is the torrent "XPERIMENT Vol.01 - KENDO BOY" and the torrent "XPERIMENT volume one". The contents is identical (the same pictures of the same size, resolution and format type). However, "XPERIMENT volume one" is arranged as a single RAR file while "XPERIMENT Vol.01 - KENDO BOY" (which is younger) is the subdirectory with pictures. I reported that these are the duplicates (however, no reply yet). Is it really true that the packing/repacking of the files creates new torrent which is formally different in its format?

The thing is, when you extract the .rar file (we allowed that for images, magazines and cartoons except for videos), the file size of that torrent is still the same, so it's more than 10% difference, i.e. not a dupe
-
I'm a touch confused. I seem to recall from an earlier post that merely adding pictures along with a previosuly-uploaded video does NOT make it a new upload. In other words, adding pictures makes no difference. The +/- 10% rule applies to the video file, not the collection of files as a whole.
Or at least that's what I understood from the Forum previously. Have I been wrong all this time?
What is the official rule here? Could a GTRU staff member please clarify?
Thanks.

Now I'm super confused. Kalayaan, in your reply above today, you seem to indicate that if the entire collection of video, pics, etc is +/- 10% the upload is not a dupliacte, even if the video file is the same (I don't know how to use the quote function - sorry).
"The thing is, when you extract the .rar file (we allowed that for images, magazines and cartoons except for videos), the file size of that torrent is still the same, so it's more than 10% difference, i.e. not a dupe"
But in another thread titles "Bundling" yesterday you wrote:
"I've discussed this with one of our global mod and the answer is Yes, the pictures in the file is irrelevant.
We based our dupe on the file size (exact size or <10%difference) and file format."If I'm understand both posts correctly, there's a contradiction here.
Help! I'm blond and from Los Anegels! I need things explained super simple and clear! ;D

@ben351500 I am replying to 2 different queries, the first one involve vid with pics as against video only (The Bundling topic post)
The second one (this topic post) both contains images only with rar as against jpg/png breakdown pictures. No Video included in the last question regarding Xperiment which is a magazine

@kayalaan: Aha! Now I understand! The Xpirement was a kinda/sorta red herring, in that there is no video file. Thanks mucho for explaining.
So my question from Jan 7 still stands - whether a new upload of the same file but with pictures (zipped or not) is a duplicate (with the poivisio that it isn't grouped together with other files of course).

I already replied to that

I thought your answer was about same file, but collected together with other files.
My question is about the same file, but with a set of pics along with it. One pic included in the torrent, or 100 pics; is it a duplicate if the video is that same?
I aplogize for being obtuse, but I can't seem to get a simple yes or no answer, and I see what I think is contradictory information in the forums, etc.
-
Okay to make it simple, your example, yes it's a dupe, and by now the dupe has been removed
-
Thank you, but that doesn't answer the question as to what the rule on this is. I would like to know so that I don't go reporting files as dupe when they are not - it wastes everyone's time, and I'm sure y'all would like to get fewer false resports.
-
Dupe removal will be based on the format and size (exact or <10% difference) of the video, accompanying pictures (zip, .rar, png, jpeg, bmp etc) are irrelevant)
-
Thank you. I'm sorry to be so persistant. And thank you too for your patience with me. You guys do a lot of good work - as volunteers - on this site, and I for one appreciate it very much.
