How far back does your music taste go?

Very!
If I like it, I play it. That can very well go back as far as the 1930's. Which is, can be a challenging time period with which to find - let's say - mp3's. I will, of course, admit that listening to music that old is a novelty for the most part. But I was born in the 80's and, so, the late 80's, the entire 1990's, and the early 2000's was just a giant mess of other people's nostalgia. Retro. Throwback. You name it. Every icon of my and your childhood was obsessed with retro: Madonna, Warren Beatty, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Disney, John Hughes, Spielberg, Zemeckis, Coppolla, Scorcese, Kubrick, De Palma, Gilliam, Tim Burton, Oliver Stone, Spike Lee, Jonathan Demme, Rose McGowan, Rob Zombie- it goes on for some time this list. The culture makers programmed us to be comfortable with music from every period of time.
Of course, then Mtv turned to shit and the culture was swallowed up by Laguna Beach, The Hills, Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club, and the like- and the appreciation for classic anything died.

I'm interpreting the question more along the lines of, "What music did you like, as a youth, when you started listening for it on the radio, or buying it for your "record collection."
Offhand, I recall Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Abba's The Visitors.
Interpreting it the other way, well, I like – in moderation -- things as old as Gregorian chants, circa 10th century, but not for the religious notions, lol... >:D >:D >:D
