Lana Del Rey or Lorde?
-
I also prefer Lorde, although Lana is pretty cool in her own right.
When I hear songs like Lorde's Green Light, I think a bit of Kate Bush. Does anyone remember KB?
Big Kate Bush fan here!

Glad to know there's another (and probably more) Kate Bush fans around here. I think both Lorde and Lana are influenced to some degree by Kate's trailblazing, from the late 70s onward.
What a shame KB didn't get traction here in the U.S., although she did place several songs on Billboard's Alternative charts. Her highest spot on the mainstream Hot 100 was Running Up That Hill, at #30.
And now, back to Lana and Lorde…

Does anyone remember KB?
PS. Lorde dances weirdly like Babooshka (ya-ya!).
Edit: Comparatively, she's weirder, actually.

Oh now I remembered… I SOOO wish there was video of Lorde performing Running Up That Hill at that live show she did a couple months ago.

Who? (Cher's voice). I don't know them (Mariah Carey's voice)
j/k ;D
Both are cool. Depends on my mood.

I love both

Although I chose Lorde earlier in the thread, I do like both performers quite a lot.
Nice to see that Lana stole the show at the 2018 Grammies for her "angelic headpiece," says Vogue!
Lana did lose to Ed Sheeran in the Best Pop Vocal Album category though… :blownose:
-
I prefer Lorde because her music feels less emotionally distant, which is an issue that some (not all) of Lana's tracks have.
-
Well, it's certainly a good time to "bump" this thread, seeing that Lorde is at #6 in the Billboard Alternative Album chart for February 10, 2018, with Melodrama.
Meanwhile, Lana del Rey is at #14 with Born to Die, which has spent 179 weeks (!) on that chart, and is also at #19 with Lust for Life.
All three albums have held the #1 position. These ladies are heavy hitters, no matter your preference.
