The reviews have mostly been poor but I liked it well enough.
I'm curious if people who didn't watch Agents of SHIED watched The Inhumans and what their opinions are. I think you need to have the background in order to understand what's going on.
Did anyone else watch? I'm not going to babble my opinion into an empty room but I'd love to discuss it.

I'm watching it later today.

What have you thought?
I'm watching it just because I've started it. The first two episodes seemed like there was a story there but now it's just plain ol' bad writing and a rushed production – it's awful, one of the worst things Marvel's produced.
People have complained about Zac Snyder's vision for the DC extended film universe but there is no comparison to how badly Marvel has been fucking up their TV line with Ironfist, Defenders, and now Inhumans.
Both Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad suffered because one was edited to be short and the other was edited to look like a commercial. The writing and production values were solid on both. Marvel, though. Damn.

I watched it because I am a superhero fan, and I wished that it had turned out better than it had and that it was given more of a chance to find its footing. I haven't researched it, but I thought I remember reading that the studio gave the show such a limited budget that they had to forego so many special effects that would have helped them be so much more. For example, they had to chop Medusa's hair, since they couldn't afford the affects, which limited the character and what she could do–which obviously affected the writing because they had to just make do with more human, which pretty much defeats the purpose of a superhero themed TV show that needs to have super-powered people stories. If you notice, there was limited use of anyone's abilities throughout the episodes that aired, and what little was shown was done in such a way that there was little need for many special effects.
Yes, the writing was pretty bad, but I think it had a lot to do with lack of money to actually be able to write better stories about Inhuman characters.

I tried Agents, but couldn't stay with it - so Inhumans was without background for me, mostly.
I appreciated what it was trying to do. Anything approaching justice effects-wise would likely have dwarfed any budget except for productions on par with Game of Thrones, so I felt I understood what they did and why.
But the writing. Good grief. I know it's a comics series. I don't expect something on the level of Penny Dreadful, but wow…
It's a shame, too, because the actors are clearly of much higher caliber than the writing and the production. Iwan Rheon was a SCREAM in "Vicious" and I don't know that Anson Mount has ever done anything half-way. Serinda Swan can be remarkable, given decent material and direction.
As much as I wanted to see another season, I can see how it didn't justify the expense. ~R.

I liked it well enough, as well. The huge budget cut that limited the use of effects pretty much killed it. Only really die hard superhero fans are going to watch a movie about super-powered characters that rarely use their abilities (or are shown using their abilities) because, well, what's the point? It sucks that happened.
