Porn sites deleting models
-
I meant to make this topic ages ago, but I'm posting it now.
I got reminded of it from this post https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=48364, where he asks if you guys have seen any guys on porn sites in real life.
I posted that yes I have seen many guys from these sites in real life, but a couple guys that I have seen are no longer on these sites. Not because the site got shut down, but because the webmaster deleted their videos from the site.
My question is, do you guys know what I'm talking about? Have you guys noticed any sites that do this? Just delete models from their site and remove their videos?
A perfect example is on theguysite.com. If you go to their current webpage. None of these guys are in their model list. These are just a select few there are so many more.
There is no guy named Matt that looks like him.
https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20130310192451/http://theguysite.com/prw_gall/TGS70.phpThere is no guy named Carlos at all on the site.
https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20111226041854/http://theguysite.com/prw_gall/TGS93.phpThere is no guy named Connor that looks like this guy.
https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20121109054525/http://theguysite.com/prw_gall/TGS75.phpCan guys pay to have their stuff taken off? Like they did what they did for money and they asked the webmaster to take them off if they paid him etc.
I also thought maybe it was guys that passed away or got locked up in jail or guys which the webmaster thought were too ugly or he didn't feel other people would like.
But I honestly don't know.
Anybody know what i'm talking about?

Maybe the guys in question quit porn and asked to have their videos deleted? It's just a guess tho =P

I think if the models have a good relationship with a studio their polite request to remove the videos will probably be granted.
A lot of the gay 4 pay models go on to get married. Or some of the models end up getting good jobs and don't want employers to learn their porn past. And sometimes I think models just um…kill themselves.
-
There are instances where someone has done modelling and it is risking or has adversely affected their personal life or another mainstream career. The right to be removed is always there for the model, but as with the internet things are rarely gone for good.
Example,
A guy I went to school with did a photo shoot and solo video for Englishlads. He was a teacher, students at his school discovered the pictures and started trying to blackmail him with them.
He got the content pulled from the website, but the story made it in to the national papers. He had to leave his job due to defaming the school's name.
I still have a copy of the video as it was on another site at the time it all happened. -
This may NOT really be related to the original poster's comment, but I am amazed at how many websites delete the existence of previous VIDEOS from their archives.
One minor case would be Treasure Island Media's website. If you cross reference their own website with movie websites like gayeroticvideoindex, there are enough films that the latter claim exist that you would never know ever WERE made as there's no comment on the TIM homepage (but I'll chalk that up to old VHS - or films that were made by another studio and then distributed through TIM)
But then there's the Machofucker website which is inexplicable to me. Not only are at least 1/3 of their videos that they've ever made gone from existence on their website (including the actors if they aren't available on any of their current videos), but they repackage previous videos and rename them (and sometimes show slightly different versions like a different camera).
It's INFURIATING regardless of the sitatuions I listed or what the OP said… if you stumble across a porn star or a videoclip from a certain site, and want to check out that site for more more more and then you hit a brick wall because they don't acknowledge it. Makes porn collecting rather maddening huh?
Thanks to the OP for bringing up this very interesting topic

it is an interesting subject that I meant to write to the site owners of Badpuppy about. I am a member of badpuppy and a year or so ago a huge amount of their own archive content disappeared along with a change in ownership/management which may have just been a coincidence. As an example Sammy Case did a couple of photoshoots and videos for them which were very nice but now I think only one exists on the site so there is no logic as to why some of a models content should disappear. I could imagine that for some of the older content they may not have the required proofs of age on file and so rather than try and sort it out just culled the content. Some of it could just be the site being careless with data and not having backups when servers go down.

Sean Cody actually generated a lot of talk amongst people re : pulling of certain models, pulling stuff he was personally in etc
Reasons given were varied and came from too many sources to even verify the who/what/when/why of it all
- The story goes that some asked and he just said ok, some asked but had to pay to have it removed, he apparently got sued by a couple and just decided he would remove and not fight but then some say he DID fight a couple and still had their videos on the site etc

Yeah I think maybe they were drunk or on drugs or didn't think gay porn was as big as it was, and these straight guys thought to themselves, "20 dollars is 20 dollars. I'm gonna do a gayforpay video and think nothing of it again."
I guess they began to have second thoughts and were uncomfortable about guys looking at their body online.
I just think that's kinda interesting and nice that if guys regret or change their mind into becoming a gay porn star, these sites can remove their videos.
But what's on the internet is on the internet forever. When you decided to become a porn star that was your choice. So I have the right to still save these videos and pictures, regardless if the site took them down.
I can understand if people were recorded against their will or were underage etc, but this is not the case at all.

I agree 100%
18+ and you signed a contract for money then toooo bad, sunshine! lol
As you, rightfully, pointed out - they never REALLY go away - I actually recently deleted all my Sean Cody but had those "missing" ones etc - might still be around on the site actually

Technically speaking, muting/deleting old DATA (because videos are still data) are necessary to keep the server running smoothly and to free more potential bandwith for new contents. Why would anyone be bothered to provide links to content that nobody is seeing/reading anymore. In some cases, these data are usually kept dormant though. So when the need arise to use/call them back, it won't be a hussle. But of course, they won't be accessible from the frontend, meaning user won't be able to locate them via direct means.
As for the social reason, well, like some others have pointed out, it probably had to do with agreements between model and studio, and legal issues, and all. I can't say for sure because I don't own a porn studio, but if I have good relation with my models, I would be perfectly okay if they ask me to mute their works, as long as it comes with valid reasons. Also, since I shot their videos, legally they are mine and I'm free to do anything (in the contract) with them. So I would also have the rights to take them down whenever I see fit.

The only way I see this working is if the video doesn't generate much revenue for the company. I doubt they'd delete a video of a popular porn actor if it's making them money. And how can you escape a porn past if you were really popular? I mean, a google search should bring up tons of inescapable images. I don't think anybody would go into porn without knowledge of it especially if you're doing hardcore scenes. Most people who do have already resigned their lives and privacy to a porn career. Most guys in it to pay for school or something probably do 1 scene at the most and go, which I doubt generates a lot of revenue after a few years unless the guy was really really hot with a popular solo. And we all know gays aren't going to forget. Look at Dustin Zito! His images are reblogged on tumblr everyday and he renounced his porn career nearly 10 years ago. LOL.

I suspect a lot more are deleted due to the actors being underage at the time of filming than people might expect.
Brett Corrigan comes to mind. He didn't find it all that difficult to make videos while he was underage.
I don't remember the name of the guy who celebrated 4 years in gay porn by throwing his 18th birthday party.

We should be careful with guys under 18..
