What Was Your First Gay Bar?
-
I guess you have visited at least one such bar..
How was it?
Did you enjoy it?
Would you go again to one such bar?
;D

First gay bar I went to- I had a close friend who was straight come with me because I was too embarrassed to go on my own.
After a few drinks, I relaxed enough to enjoy the show- there was a comedy and musical number with half naked men on stage. It was a lot of fun, and eventually I've been to other bars since then. -
never went to any bar and pub, want to know what happened there

I was 17 and it was a gay club in Greece, I went there with a group of friends, most of them girls, and most of them either queer or questioning (before you ask, it is possible, no one actually checks IDs, it's not even illegal to get in a club if you are under 18, the only thing that is illegal is serving you alcohol). The bad thing in this story was that we decided to go there for just a lil bit but we ended up being there until super late and that got me grounded - my mom was furious.
Not a very club either: just a normal club, full of flaming homosexuals of both genders. I think it was the club's xx birthday since it first opened, so they also had some professional dancers/strippers for a show but nothing crazy. For 17-year-old me though, that was a huge thing, as you can imagine
Have been a lot to gay clubs since then. In fact I had a short phase during which I would go to those places all the time, cause I thought this was the natural thing for a single gay guy to do on a Saturday night. Thing is, I never was fond of clubs anyways, if it was a non-gay club I would not even thinking of going. At some I got bored of it. Now I will only rarely go to such a place, and it will be a regular gay bar instead of a gay club (preferably one that is more bear-related or just mostly-men, cause I find most lesbians too noisy and too much trouble to deal with).

Yeah, you are kinda right in that But it's not that much that I got bored, it's more that I couldn't really relate with the people visiting those places… Casual gay bear bar? Yes, I will enjoy that once in a while. But when it comes to gay clubs full with 20-year-olds dancing to Rihanna, well, not that much my type. Most of the time I would just sit in a corner, sip on my drink slowly, maybe dance a bit if a nice tune was playing (especially if it was a disco thing or something). Otherwise the people let me completely uninterested. Both in sexual way and just friendship way. And especially since I got to learn more about Queer Anarchy and explore a more alternative community, I just didn't fit in such places anymore. I would much more enjoy myself inside the subcultures, with queer guys that are like me: artists, nudists, anarchists, drunk philosophers, stoners, fetishists, polyamorous people, punks, skinheads, queer freaks of types ;D And having met and also been a part of both those groups, I started seeing the difference between Gay and Queer (or LGBT and Queer). LGBT refers to casual people, everyday people, who have obsessions, fears, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and lives in general exactly like non-LGBT people, with the only difference being in their sexuality/gender identity. On the other hand, being Queer is about being weird many other aspects of your life, whether it's your political beliefs, your style, your clothes, your kinks or the way you spend your free time with people. And just to make it clear, I don't call people who identify themselves as LGBT wrong. All I'm saying is that everyone should belong to the community that makes them feel comfortable and happy, and that for me this community is the Queer community
PS: to answer your last question, yes, it has always been in Greece, whether talking about mainstream gay bars/clubs or the alternative community. I do live in the Czech Republic right for some years now, but I haven't had many chances to explore the possibilities here yet. Maybe one day I will be able to share most stories about my experience on being a part of a colorful community!

I was around 19. There was this disco or whatever it was. Called K4. It was for gay only on sundays. I'm not sure I was there on sunday, I wish I was and I wasn't there while it was kind of closed. Barman was there and you could get in. I don't have any idea where are other gay bars. I was trying to google it but still nothing. But now that my friend moved, it doesn't really matter. I don't like to go to bars alone.

Gay Anarchy?
I don't drink but I went to a strip bar once. At least I got to try it.
-
Gay Anarchy?
Yeah, Queer Anarchy is a movement which is based on the philosophy that social liberation and freedom starts from liberation from our moral chains, the ones that have to do with gender expression, sexual expression, fetishes, relationships, etc. In other words, it combines the theoretical philosophy of anarchy with queer theory, promoting freedom to do whatever you want with your body or on your body. Homosexuality, Bi/Pansexuality, Feminism, Gender-neutral aesthetics (including Drag), Polyamory, Open Relationships, Fetishes (of all types, including BDSM), etc, are all considered good by Queer Anarchists, since they are going against the puritan social norms.

it was an open mic kind of gay bar, i really enjoyed it

None, I don't drink alcohol, I'm a teetotaler.

My first gay bar was “Splash” in NY. A couple of friends took me there on a trip. I was so freaked out I got really drunk. LOL
Since then I´ve been to tons of different gay bars, piano, disco, rave-like, stripper clubs in Montreal are great. Always with good friends to have a couple of drinks, talk, laugh, look at all the different people and have a good time enjoying the music.

Has anyone felt like that too?

Yesterday, it's the first time I have been go there, bos a friend of my partner Operating a bar here, they invite me to have a drink, the place is small and narrow, it's too dark to see the one 10 feet around you, I don't like that place, I leave there for 30 minutes later. I hate strangers attempt to touch your hand, bar and gay bar is very rare in my city.
