I can't pick just one so here's a list of good foreign language films.

          Alice
          Faust
          Little Otik
          ^Directed by Jan Svankmajer

          The Double Life Of Veronique
Three Colours Trilogy (Red, White & Blue)
          ^Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski

          Joint Security Area
          Sympathy For Mr Vengeance
          Oldboy
          Lady Vengeance
          I'm A Cyborg But That's OK
          ^Directed by Park Chan-wook

          13 Assasins
          As the Gods Will
          Audition
          Big Bang Love, Juvenile A
          Crows Zero 1 & 2
          Dead Or Alive Trilogy
          Full Metal Yakuza
          Gods Puzzle
          Gozu
          Ichi The Killer
          Izo
          One Missed Call
          The Bird People In China
          The Happiness Of The Katakuris
          Visitor Q
          Yakuza Apocalypse
^Directed by Takashi Miike (Brilliant and insanely prolific. There are loads more I could post.)

          All About My Mother
          Bad Education
          Dark Habits
          Kika
          Talk To Her
          The Skin I live In
Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
          Volver
Women On The Verge Of  A Nervous Breakdown
          ^Directed by Pedro Almodóvar

          Asian Films[/a]
          13 (Beloved)
          Alone
          Death Note 1 & 2
          Ghost Game
          Haunted Apartments
          Hausu
Infernal Affairs Trilogy [the inspiration for The Departed]
Ju-On: The Grudge [way better than the American remake]
          Kung Fu Hustle
          Nightmare Detective
          Ringu 1 & 2
          Sars Wars
          Save the Green Planet
          Shaolin Soccer
          Suicide Club / Circle
          The Host
          Versus
          Zatoichi

          European films
          Accion Mutante
          Das Experiment
          Delicatessen
          Dobermann
          Insomnia
          MicMacs
Ne Le Dis A Personne (Tell No One)
          Open Your Eyes
          The City Of Lost Children
          Y Tu Mama Tambien

All of Michael Haneke's films (Sometimes a bit grim but always brilliant. Skip the US remake of Funny Games for the original. Even though it's a shot for shot remake by the same director I think knowing who the actors are in the remake takes you out of the experience.)

There a bit of everything here (drama, thriller, horror, comedy, surrealism) from several different countries. There's probably loads more I've forgotten but you should have enough to keep you going. 🙂

Many come to mind when I start to think on it, but this one almost always comes to mind first…

              Okuribito ("Departures") (2008)

              Trailer…

              http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1069238/

              Additional information…

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Departures_(2008_film)

Winner in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009 (and I’ve laughed and cried every time watching it…at least 3 times so far).

My all-time fave is PROFONDO ROSSO. EARLY Dario Argento was GREAT - and it was a shame when he went all "tits-n-ass".
