Will you marry your partner in the future?
-
now gay marriage is usual, but a lot of my friends prefer to have civil relationship other than marriage. what do you prefer?
-
We will most definitely be getting married! We are in for the long haul.
-
Oh, most definitely we will get married. We're technically engaged and only need to set a date.

Last month was our 10th Anniversary of what began as a civil union in CT before they changed their laws and made it marriage. For the last 8 years I have been trying to figure out how to get a divorce and until this summer, I couldn't since we had moved to another state. Can't wait to get my freedom back!

Im kind of traditional so id say marriage

Was in a civil partnership, but converted it to marriage.

I wish, but that can't possibly happen in my country

In my country, Italy, civil partnerships might become a reality as soon as this month. Of course I would like to get married/enter in a civil partnership, but my only doubt is inheritance.
I would certainly love to leave what I own to my partner, and make him financially secure. But with marriage, who dies last inherits the estate of the dead partner. At the death of the surviving partner, both inheritances will ultimately go to the relatives of the one who died last (since there won't be children). There are specific laws about who can inherit; and in case there are children/spouse, only a small part of whole estate is available to me to leave to whomever I want.
So, I feel a little deterred, cause if I were to die first, I would like, after the death of my partner, that what was mine would be bequeathed to my nieces and nephews, and not to his unknown relatives.
Because of the laws about inheritance, my whole estate is available for me to bequeath in a will to whomever I want, only if I have no children nor spouse. In this way I can leave the ownership to my relatives, but legal use of my estate to my partner till his death. -
I really don't know. Guess that I would consider it after YEARS of intimacy and civil partnership. But for me more than what it means…marriage is important for the obligations and rights it entails.
Also, inheritance laws concern me. Honestly, I'd rather have my partner of many years be able to enjoy what we BOTH build TOGETHER. Leaving stuff to a family that practically shunned me away...pfft, they'd wish.
If it ensures that the man of my life won't be defenseless against the world if somehow I kick the bucket before him...sure, I'd marry him (even adopt him)

Yes I will marry my partner - I think it's a right we should all exercise when we find the right person. Love is such a vital part of the human experience and ours should be celebrated just as much as straight people's love.

I have a boyfriend and he is aware someday in the future I want to be married and have children as well, he is not against it but yes, I want to make it legal. It is important for me. Truly.
-
Yes, if the need warranted–for example, having to meet some requirement afforded to a "spouse" and being a "partner" of any type doesn't qualify.
Another reason would be that of "financial gain" (or more importantly, avoiding financial loss in terms of taxes behind all of that "estate planning" stuff–wills, inheritances, property...yadda, yadda, yadda.)
Outside of that, probably not.

wish I had a partner

wish I had a partner
If you actually do make that wish, make sure to be specific with the details.
You don't want to be stuck with a dud–or worse of course.
I'm sure there's a whole bunch of folks who would rather be without, than to be with the one they currently have.

as long as i'm alive , i will try to get married to the person i love … Need to find him first !!
-
i'll always defend equal marriage rights, but have no aspiration to ever marry. why do we need social approval or recognition of queer relationships? in fact, i prize that queer relationships are precisely that –- queer! that is, deviant from the mainstream. so marriage? yuk! not ever for me!
-
I used to be a family lawyer… divorces are ugly... so much to lose!! So no, I've been turned off marriage...
I still believe that we should be entitled to marry tho'
