    Is getting a personal trainer worth it?

      What do you guys think? Aim is weight loss really so might keep me more honest on the food side I was thinking…

        Well the personal trainer is a help, but its more you than anyone else .
        in order to lose weight(or gain correctly) you have to have discipline
        so Follow the instructions from ppl that now better
        More than a personal i always follow the nutritionist .
        you can follow a normal program made up for you, you don't need someone for a whole hour 🙂

        just my 2 cents btw

            Any serious weight loss without some resistance/weight training is half a game … it's just so much easier to stay on top of it (and still be able to eat and not be miserable all the time with hunger). Your form is incredibly important.

            Hiring a personal trainer was very important for my success in that he was able to show me the basics of exercises (it really is NOT as simple as hopping on any machine and doing your best; you need some education). I saw him once a week for three months at first, and wound up hiring him again a year later when I had lost some steam and needed to get back into things.

            It doesn't have to be forever (they'll try to sell you as many sessions as they can, but be firm about what you expect), but it is worth it. Don't fool yourself.

              The knowledge can be very helpful not to mention that anything that gets you motivated and consistent is worth it

                I got forearm and shoulder injury from working out alone and I've been resting and having physical therapy for 1 month. There are 2 lessons for me. First, it is necessary to know how to work out correctly, second, having someone to assist you can prevent injury.

                    Some gyms will give you a session with a personal trainer when you sign-up and this helps to familiarize yourself with the equipment. I definitely recommend learning proper technique first through a PT, but once you've got sound technique you shouldn't need one unless you completely lack motivation.

                      Depends on the person.  IMO there are two reasons to have a trainer: if you are shy getting into the gym and figuring it out for yourself, or if having a trainer will motivate you to keep going.

                      I don't think they are necessarily educated or qualified than anyone else with access to the internet and bodybuilding.com
