Why do completed torrents count as downloads?

Basically I have downloaded a number of torrents and leave the online for seeding, however, these torrents seem to be only listed as downloads even though they are completed downloads. This basically reduces the chance to increase my ratio by seeding as many torrents as possible, by limiting them by my upload to download ratio restrictions.

If you are using utorrent, and your downloads don't move to "queue seeding" or "seeding" after you complete the download, you should move them to "seeding" yourself by right clicking/highlighting the download and choosing "start" or "force start" until it moves to "seeding".

Have you serviced your Dom today?

This usually occurs because you chose to "skip" some portion of the torrent files, such as the pictures, etc.

In the way that torrent clients report back to a Torrent Tracker Server… the ENTIRE torrent contents {EVERYTHING} must be downloaded, in order for your downloads to move from "Leeching" to "Downloaded".

In YOUR case I see 3 torrents, which your Vuze program has apparently stopped downloading, at 99.87%, 99.93%, and 99.86%

Please stop the torrents, and force a recheck (which should clear up the false 100% you're seeing) and continue, and finish the downloading.

Vuze is a particularly difficult torrent program for our members, as evidenced by the sheer number of requests for help we receive from Vuze users.

We've got some forum topics just created for members who use Vuze, here:

My personal advice for choosing a torrent client is the classic version of uTorrent.

It's faster and more stable than all the later versions of uTorrent, and, by using uTorrent, you would be able to use our QTM program to automate any torrent uploads you might like to do, in the future!

Download the 2.2.1 build 25302 uTorrent install program from here

          (  http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php?old_utorrent=8134?download   )

Place the utorrent.exe file you downloaded anywhere.

          Run the utorrent.exe program file.

Accept the default setup, and Accept all defaults.
UNCHECK "Yes, I'd love to check out this free download" for "The Tunnel" movie, if this appears.
Click YES to approval for program install

This will install the older version of uTorrent, and it will take care of everything needed.

          Start uTorrent.

Go to the settings in Options / Preferences /  General and UNcheck the "Check for Updates Automatically" setting.

Set up your Columns.  I would suggest you activate certain columns in your torrent client, so as to keep a close eye on each torrent statistics, in the future. You can right-click in the column headings and choose additional columns to be able to view.

I personally recommend, from left to right, "Name", "Size", "Done", "Added on", "Status", "Completed", "Down Speed", "Up Speed", "Seeds", "Peers", "ETA", and Tracker" as essential information and sort-columns.

You activate these headings by right-clicking on the headings, and selecting and de-selecting your headings, as needed. You can also re-size the headings, by clicking and holding down on the right side of the heading, and dragging it a little bit to the left. You can change the order, simply by dragging the column heading left or right.

Success!!! You should be able to download videos from GayTorrent.ru now, without any problems.

Please PM me, if you have any questions about this procedure: https://www.gaytorrent.ru/sendmessage.php?receiver=135714

          Good luck,

Hi, I didn't tell Vuze to skip any portion of the torrents. Forcing a recheck reported that the files are 100% complete. Noticed that my upload/download info isn't reflected in the leaching torrent link on my profile…and one of the actively uploading torrents isn't listed there either. I can try utorrent sometime, I used to use that program a long time ago.

It does not matter whether a torrent shows as a download, completed or seeding, any data, up or down, will count towards your ratio.

So if halfway through a download you decide to stop, any data transferred (again up or down) will still count on your ratio.

As Pawpcorn explained above if you choose to download just some of a torrent (perhaps it is a huge torrent and you only want one part or you always uncheck pictures) you will always be a downloader to the tracker, never a seeder. But again any data you upload in helping to seed will be added to you upload total.

The most usual reason for your ratio not to increase is that you have a chosen a torrent that no-one wants to download just now. It may be old, it may be unpopular but for any number of reasons you could be sitting there with no downloaders. But even then you are earning seed points which you can swap for upload if you want. So all is not lost 🙂

@revenger: you should try to get the 600 bonus points from the First Time Upload Program and i think cannonmc is right: missing downloading peers.
