House rules regarding screenshots.

The only thing I can think of would be the first five or so uploads have to go through an approval process. I know it would cause a backlog at first having seen and been a part of it happening on another site where everything that was uploaded had to be pre-approved before it went out to the members, but it was well worth it. What went out to the members was a better quality and conformed to the rules. Then after the uploader is released from the process if they start to upload new items that do not conform to the rules that is when sanctions can come into play.
For the approval process I am just talking about. Filenames, Torrent names, photos and descriptions. Just a very quick check. In no way would I want mods to check to make sure the photos do belong to the video being uploaded or that the torrent might be a duplicate. Just a quick 20 second check. If everything looks good approval it, if not reject the torrent with a pm saying it needs to be fixed or was deleted and the reason.

Didn't that used to happen here? Or am I thinking about that other site too?
Given the staff are under pressure to keep up now, I wonder whether another job would be possible.
I'm thinking it might be better for members to report non-conforming torrents. But then it is often difficult to get members to communicate.

I doubt we are thinking about the same site. Since the one I was a mod for and had to approve any member upload was an online game and we would get hundreds on submissions each day. Each one had to be looked over before it was released to the game.
I just reported five or six newly uploaded torrents tonight for filename, description, category, torrent name. They were all from the same person, four of the torrents had the same name and the same description which didn't describe the torrent. "A Very hot Video" I think is what they used for the torrent name and description. It took me longer to report the torrents then it would have taken a mod to reject them. Heck most of the process can be automatic without even bringing up the detail page. Just need to show the mod the facts they need to look at on one page. They click accept or deny and check a reason. Clicking deny automatic sends a standard email with the reason checked and a 24 hour notice. Once the torrent is edited it goes back into the que. If it is not edited in 24 hours the system deletes it.
Also remember the mods would not be checking all new torrents just the first five or so from each member until that member surpasses the approval process.
Would it be more work? I have no idea. I wonder how many reports on torrents the mods handle each day and that number and work load should almost vanish.

Why not just attach a sign or a label to a torrent that says "reported for invalid screenshots" or "reported for wrong video" or "request for a file name change". I mean if people see that other users have tagged it as such then they'll know what's wrong with the torrent.
Some people comment on the torrent but not report it.
Some people report it but not comment.
Maybe a report should be an auto comment or something just so people know what's up and that other users are warned.

@__rothko__: I've said earlier "What you say here is of big concern for me, bigger than you will think from my above answers."
and
"For my part, I've to see how the internal processes can be improved, so that the new uploaders get helped to improve and those not learning get send to upload approval (earlier and systematically).
and we will require more active staff "
We have rather low minimum requirements defined by the rules (basically one good related picture and title/description not being wrong or misleading, aside special requirements for collections and LGTBQ themed movies) and it is really a concern that we fail to even enforce these.
Your topic is a nudge for me to put more focus on getting more active moderators and improving /streamlining processes. I ensure you it is and will be continued to be worked on. Only don't expect visible changes the next few days.
All members can really help in reporting not rule conform torrent presentations. What then will happen next is:
- A moderator will handle the report, remove wrong or misleading information (including pictures)
- The moderator might add information from the comments or supplied with the report
- Then give the uploader a PM to improve the presentation
The uploader will have full 7 days (this might be felt too long…) from the upload date, i.e. the time he's able to edit the torrent presentation, to improve it.
What happens after these 7 days isn't well defined. That has to be done, clearly. Here could help user comments on what the shared files are (rather than comments complaining about bad presentation) and members adding pictures. It isn't only an uploader issue, all members can help especially those who have downloaded the torrent's files despite the lacking presentation.

Didn't that used to happen here? [auto-approval]
I wasn't going ga-ga (well, I might be but on this my memory was OK)
Yesterday, while checking out a reply to another query I saw this pic on the member's post. So it was the case that you did have to earn approval for the first few posts you did.
I have no idea what happened to that.

More hilarious screenshots:

It does more good to report these than post them in the forums.

Several hours on many occasions.

Perhaps you would like to become moderator and reduce the time until a report got treated?

It was suggested to me a while ago but when I explained I would be suspending members uploads and accounts all the time for breaching the sites rules especially in regards to snap shots and bullshit file names the conversation came to a sudden end. I think you know as well as I do that I wouldn't last 5 minutes as a mod on this site.

Ah, a man after my own heart. Although the files names don't bother me, the real problem are the photos.
