Bald, Thinning, or Receding Hairlines.

A lot of men are affected by this all over the world. Some men shave it all off, some men try to cover it up, some men try tons of products to get it back.
I myself have a receding hairline in the front, but I have an Afro, it's not so easy to notice at times but if the light hits it right you can tell it's there. The Idea of combing it over just seems stupid to me. I don't consider myself a narcissistic person, i rarely look in a mirror. People say I'm handsome and sexy, but that doesn't really help when you feel average.
So i have been pondering whether to just cut it all off and keep it cut. I like the bald look sometimes, not everyone can pull it off. I'm not really sure if i could. But what a lot of people don't talk about is the anxiety that comes along with losing your hair, it seems to me is mostly a reflection of how society or your culture views beauty.
I'm just curious for other men in this situation, How did you approach this issue, what kind of anxiety did you deal with, did you come to a conclusion you are happy with? ???

I freely admit my receding hair line bothers me greatly. I refuse to do a comb over, someone please shoot me if I ever do, I don't believe I could pull off the shaved head look. I just try to keep it fairly short. If I had the money I would do the hair transplant surgery. Not because of anyone else opinion, just for my own self image. In the past I tried rogaine and finasteride but didn't see any appreciable results. If my hair line follows the pattern of my dad's I won't lose all of it on top just most of it. LOL.

I'm 33 and my hair around my crown started thinning about 4 years ago but it seems to be very slowly thinning (thankfully!). At the moment it's still very thick at the front but it does cause me distress & anxiety so my hairdresser suggested using Super Million Hair which consists of fine particles of artificial hair which are sprinkled on your natural thinning hair. It really does cover well and looks so natural. Makes me feel so much better when I go out and also washes out easily.

I hate that I'm going bald, even though I've been going through it for 30ish years.
My family has a history of baldness. So far I'm doing pretty good, I have a lot more hair than the others that have started to go bald. Right now, I'm about 1 inch (2.5cm) in the front and twice that at the temples, receding.
I refuse to do the comb over. I have my hair cut using a #/No. 3 clippers (15mm) all over, with a taper around the bottom edges.

Guys in my father family branch get bald at 20's… so yup been dealing with that, my mother line however has realllly strong hair, anxiety and stress can worsten your case, there are things who slow or halt hair loss, saw palmetto for example, keeping cool and ( :blink:shock dying your hair can also help), I've been dealing with summer hair fall for 10 years and no guy 18 should have to live with what I lived, rogaine is only helpfull according to your needs minoxidil less than 5 % won't do a thing, when I mentioned dying your hair in my case helps because it cleans most of my hair oil, my hair 10 years later is mostly still here, yes some in the crown is thinner and smaller but that is not noticed unless over a strong light, Thing you should not do if you want to keep your hair or make it grow back (keep in mind you can't ever get back more than 30% of what you lost in the past 2 years) Keep away from using wigs or hats for more than 3 4 hours, (surprise surprise you are taking oxigen of your skin and promoting oils) stay away from super million hair, mirage and other particles that grow hair (those do give you the appearance but they might clog pores and again act against folicules that want to grow) also using copper peptides products do can help.

Take Propecia, it helps a lot.

I will never be happy with no hairs on my head.
I am just 21, balding fast.
An Asian like me won't even have facial hair to compliment my bald head.I have only one choice - buzz cut and try to exercise more.
saw a post on internet advising people to eat spinach, salmon, beans and vitamin B. -

A healthy, balanced diet is the key to everything, including healthy hair. A diet that is not high enough in iron or protein can lead to hair loss, says Dr. Shapiro. Those with eating disorders and those who crash diet often experience hair loss. If poor diet is your issue, you can usually reverse hair loss by balancing your food intake. Good sources of protein include meat, eggs, fish, nuts, beans, and seeds; add iron to your diet with foods like lentils, green foods like spinach and other veggies, cereals fortified with iron, clams, and oysters.
The body uses vitamin A to help with vision and hair growth, however, high levels of vitamin A can have a converse effect and contribute to hair loss. Avoid taking excessive vitamin supplements that could cause a spike in your vitamin A. Certain medications can also be responsible for elevated vitamin A levels, particularly retinoids commonly used to treat acne and psoriasis. While you are taking retinoids there is not much you can do about hair loss, says Dr. Shapiro. However, once you stop medication or excessive supplements, your hair should resume its normal growth.
One other vitamin to pay attention to: vitamin D. Though studies are not conclusive, some research suggests that low levels of vitamin D and iron can cause thinning hair in women. Ask your doctor to test your vitamin D and iron levels, and discuss whether or not you should take a vitamin supplement.

Get thin or muscular. You'll look attractive to much even with a shaved head(shave or buzz… Don't do the Benjamin Franklin look)

Self-confidence is the key I think. Yes, you will feel shit about yourself because every time you look in the mirror, this will (most likely) be the first thing you notice. And of course people will notice it too. But what I have found is that if you exude the confidence, then this matter will leave their mind as quickly as it came. At the end of the day, it takes more than just the hair to define a man.
Obviously this is a case of "easier said than done", but if you practice, preach and live by it, then soon enough you will notice the difference in your own (as well as the other people's) attitude.

Thankfully, I have another 5 years or so if you look at when the men on both sides of my family started losing their hair. My partner has been balding since his early 20s though. I have always seen him as the most gorgeous, handsome human being I have ever set eyes on. He loses more hair every year and he's staring to gray and I see him as no less attractive than the day we met. One year though, he decided he was going to try shaving it. Shaved is VERY different from balding. I thought it looked so awful that I denied him sex on his birthday. He said it made him more confident and comfortable an I told him it shouldn't because he can't pull it off.
Moral of the story: Be comfortable and confident with yourself, but know you should probably seek a significant other who is your type and finds you to be their type. And if you already have a SO, communicate with them before taking any drastic measures.

I don't have the courage to shave it all off, but short looks much better for thinning hair!
