If during sex someone was hurting or making me feel uncomfortable in any way, that would be the end of the intercourse right there and then. It's important to have boundaries I think. It should be a positive experience for both parties

It was with my ex boyfriend. We cared about each other so I'm glad I did it with him!

To be honest, even if things were fine for 3 years, maybe he just changed his mind and he just doesn't want what you guys have anymore. It's easy to fall into the trap of "what went wrong". In most cases, nothing went wrong. People sometimes move on? I understand that it's hard to accept though.
