What games have you played and really enjoyed in the past.  Would be easier to suggest something if we knew what you liked 

My current rig is a couple of years old now but I bought all the parts in sales so it's actually pretty good.  It'll do until I build my next one sometime next year.  This is the second rig I've built for gaming and since building this one, I've not touched my Xbox 360 - the amount of extra benefits you get from a decent PC (work, watching movies, porn lol) just tips the scales for me.

I work in IT too which helps so I'm pretty good at speccing up parts and I keep up (more or less) with trends so I do actually know my way around thankfully.

This rig cost me about £850 but like I said I purchased parts over a 3 month period and only bought them when I found them on sale so I know it would have cost maybe £1,300 - £1,500 for a similarly specced, prebuilt machine.  It's easy enough to get a mid-range PC for the price of an XBox one or PS4 though, I do video editing a lot as I'm a web developer so having something with an awful lot of horses under the bonnet was key for me.

Yeah, agreed.  Never wanked over him but If I had to choose one to do it to, it would be this little hottie. 

World of Warcraft - All in I played for well over a year of gametime over my 6 year subscription.  Was scary seeing those numbers appear when I typed /played

For normal (non mmo or moba) it's Final Fantasy IX or XII that have soaked the most of my time

Played both and finished them.  Portal 1 is fairly short, but Portal 2 has a lot of content.  Something about the Cave Johnson Lemons speech still makes me feel emotional.  Fantastic end credit music too by Jonathan Coulton

Anything by Square in the early to late 90's did it for me.  All the Zelda games have a special place too.  Also remember Street Fighter 2 on SNES fondly, Bomberman and Mario Kart too purely for the countless hours playing against friends

I'm old enough to have grown up in the Zelda / Final Fantasy era so I love a good RPG or MMORPG.

Into mobas, Action/Adventure and a lot of other stuff as well but definately not an FPS fan at all.  If the game has a story I like and just happens to be a run n gun as well then maybe - stuff like Bioshock I guess
