I've already read "The God Eaters", as well as "Bloodraven", "Between Sinners and Saints", and "Zero Hour".
Good reads all four of them.
For now I think I'll try "Static", it seems like I'm gonna like it.
But your description of "Collared" and, especially, your comments also intrigued me.
I'll let you know when I've finished reading either or both of them.
BTW, I'd also add "The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula K. LeGuin, but it's not really homoerotic 'cause androgynous beings cannot be considered either straight or gay, can they? Anyway, it's a great novel and part of the Hainish Cycle (aka Ekumen Series) by LeGuin. I'd definitely recommend it.

The characters are so unique. Our half goblin who wants so much to be goblin and hates everything sidhe. When we see that even inside he is more sidhe than goblin. How hard he tries to fit in. It was really interesting.

The book made me wonder how the was started and I wonder about sidhe. But it was very interesting to read from the bad guys side. At least it looks like goblins are the bad side. They kill each other, never keep promises and bad behavior is encouraged and good frowned upon.

I'd also would like to know more about our sidhe. We only get Mair's side in the story, even if it's very good.

I guess maybe taking a star is normal when a book leaves unanswered questions. But maybe that's the point. It's not such questions which would nag me in a bad kind of way. Just something you yourself try to figure out. Like, how could the was had started. I'm thinking maybe goblins are so bad that sidhe decided they needed to be stopped.
The book gave me too much pleasure to lower the rating for something which might have been intentional - to leave us questioning and thinking up the answers ourselves.

REVIEW:This is really one of the best books in MM I have read. The plot was interesting, without any banalities and the easy choices like some author's take (not shortening the plot, rushing things).
Characters also very well developed, especially Jamie. He felt real - his emotions, feelings and actions. It showed the struggle of an abused person to live.

As for the religious parts, I am not religious and all. But it didn't do harm to the book and the plot. Kinda helped to develop Levi's character. And was interesting to see how a family with such religion dealt with homosexual son and life in general. I think it was done realistically enough - many of them were very religious, but wasn't too strict on following all the rules of the religion, just like an average family in many other religions. |

REVIEW: I liked the first part better. Probably because I was expecting something else with the healing. At times it felt too slow, at times too fast, but it didn't ruin anything since it's not an exact science.

The only complain could be the Irend character. In the beginning he looked kind and caring of his brother and sister and later on he looked like some abusive jerk, no remorse of forcing his brother to do the same his father did, beating etc.

The ending made me a little confused. Where is the rest of it? Seriously? It's like half way done now. The relationship, family issues not resolved, new problems arisen and I'd like too see how it ends. |

REVIEW: Characters were very well done. Writing was good. Plot interesting and unusual. I really liked how it was dealt with the sex shifting. But not how it dealt with sexual orientation.

The only complain could be that our straight character decided he feels sexual attraction for a man in one night. I would have liked it to be gradual - for him to discover his bisexuality. Many people are bisexual with strong leaning towards straight or gay so it isn't out of a question for Damon to feel attraction for Alex. But it was all put on the love. Just because you love someone doesn't change your orientation. You can love a person but if you are gay/straight you won't feel sexual attraction to the "wrong" gender. It feels a little like sexual orientation is considered unimportant. In a way it is, but depending on it you want to have sex with the appropriate gender.
I agree that Damon should still love Alex even if the body changed, but he shouldn't feel any sexual attraction if he is completely straight (that's why I wanted to see him discover his bisexual side, I didn't feel it here). It would be the same to say that all gay men just didn't found the right woman. There is no right woman. Just like there is no right man for a straight man.

Still a recommended read. If you don't mind a lot of psychology. Most of the book is about characters dealing with the situation. I liked it, but some might find it a little boring for the lack of action. So if you like reading about characters and their feelings, reactions give it a go. |

I like that he is good at other things, like art.

So it is very interesting to read this narration. I'm mad at the smart friends on how they treat our hero. That does show low class.

There are plenty of sex scenes and they are hot. I am picky about that (better no than boring, banal).

Also for not a native speaker there were a lot of new words. Vocabulary is pretty wide. I rarely need to check translations but I had while reading this book. This is both good (learning new words) and bad (can be distracting, but not much).

I like how the reluctant one is the master and not the slave. Sylvan wants to please so much and he completely doesn't understand his masters rejection. There is no banal slave-master relationship. It's refreshing and new. |

It's amazing how detailed the created world is. How unique and interesting. I like how simple, everyday actions were made into discoveries. How hard it is to learn that we do everyday. The world itself isn't described separately much but you see a lot of it from the characters, how they act, react etc.

The characters are deep and well revealed. Their actions and reactions seem realistic. Ernest's baby steps into life and the wonders along the way are written very realistically.

I found it very funny the first thing Ernest ate wasn't a protein bar

No disguised females, all males with their own individual characters. Plot never really seen before at least by me - two male subs looking for a dom to satisfy their needs but no sex involved. It was strange to see "straight" dom dominating two males. But it worked.

I really liked how both subs had different likes and personalities. In menage characters often get too similar. They had clearly showed differences both as subs and as people.

I really liked the pace. There was no rushing, well except for the end. I would have liked it a little longer, not so sudden. |

I really liked the new context for D/S. Some sci-fi is great. The characters were well developed, mostly Connor, least Emmett. It managed without talking much about the world itself reveal a lot of it. All the changes, how they affected Connor.
It was emotional, but not too angsty. Mostly, it was interesting to read a different kind of D/S book.
This is the only book I didn't find menage when it's not among all partners acceptable and natural. First time I liked it. Author made it right.
Nothing out of place or unnatural caught my attention. Only (view spoiler)

Yes, with homo erotic books standards are often too low. I guess it's popular now and everyone who can't do anything worth reading are just trying to exploit this. It's pretty hard to find well written books, but there are some. I'll check out my library and see if I can recommend anything. I think you would like something sci-fi & fantasy. My favorite genre too.

I use calibre, it converts quite well, lots of options. The only problem is the headers/footers you need to fix them for every book using the search and replace function when converting. I'd love an option to convert all and automatically remove headers.

Parents just let it go like that? I mean "the school said it won't happen again". Like when did school was successful in preventing any kind of bullying or anything…
Shouldn't this have been reported to police and a trial set. There is juvenile for underage criminals or something. I hope the story wasn't written correctly as now it seems like nobody cares about these things and people go on unpunished. That's the reason people repeat the same crimes - why not if there are no consequences.

I want to bang my head into a wall when I read an article that a 17yo murderer while waiting trial managed to murder another person. Like seriously can't you lock up even the really dangerous people to society? Or an old lady going around the block and hitting children for no reason? Police solution - do nothing, since we can lock her up only for one night.
These are all real examples from my country.

I don't think it's possible to answer such a question when it's asked if gay guys like to date shorter gay guys. If all wanted to date shorter guys when nobody would date, since both sides are male. The shorter guy wouldn't want to date the taller guy. It all depends on personal preferences.

Alan Hollinghurst writes like a dream about the nightmare of unequal affection. In his third novel, The Spell, four men dance around one another, their emotions and actions ranging from casual cruelty to anxiety to adoration. Hollinghurst's painful but smiling roundelay alternates between Dorset–where 40ish architect Robin shares a house with the impossibly self-involved Justin--and London. When Justin's ex, Alex, arrives for a weekend in the country, the atmosphere is instantly rich with jealousy and power plays. And after the trio is joined by a younger gay man, Danny--who turns out to be Robin's son--the attractions and duplicities multiply exponentially. Alex, for instance, soon admits to Danny, "I've got a ruinous taste for takers," and they (and we) are off and running.

As ever, Hollinghurst's prose is musical and sensual but also deeply witty. Even the birds in this novel modulate their song from somnolent calls to outright chuckles--echoing the pleasures and absurdities of the humans they circle. And the author's feel for the easy intimacies and brutalities that his characters exchange is unmatched. As Justin (clad only in a tanga) escorts Alex around the cottage, he points out some vases: "These pots, darling, were made by potters of the greatest probity." Hollinghurst's descriptions are marvelous, whether of landscape or human frailty. After leaving a rather unrelaxed restaurant with Alex, "Danny recovered his air of bossiness and mystery, like a prefect in the school of pleasure." And when the two obtain some Ecstasy and hit one of Danny's haunts--a brilliantly realized club--the author reveals the rapture and idiocy in each moment:

The boys glistened and pawed at the ground. They looked like members of some dodgy brainwashing cult.... Alex saw that what he most wanted was happening and groped marvellingly between the different kinds of happiness, the chemicals and the sex. It seemed that happening and happiness were the same, he must remember that, to tell everyone.

I'd like something good for comics. For books kindle is fine, I only hate the user interface (can't stress it enough), but I use it for reading, not browsing etc.

I just got kindle. Decided to go with cheap (not the cheapest), simple and reliable. I don't like the user interface, but for reading itself is pretty good. No complains about that. Just hate the no support of metadata and not user friendly browsing of the books, one level collections. I think even now I have like 300 collections (authors, series, tags etc). You can't even see in which collections book is.

I think since I have almost all books on calibre and I worked quite awhile to make it nice to browse, all kinds of complicated custom columns, I can use it for browsing the books. Doubt any ebook reader could come even close to the quality of browsing your books to calibre.

As about formats I really don't care. I only hate that converting pdfs is a pain in the ***. Can't just take all books and convert to any format like you can with any other format. One by one isn't a way to go with a big library

You can always disable images, at least in my phone.

I myself found literotica and nifty long time ago and the later one has a huge database. The downside of this one is that you might stumble upon things you don't want to and are forbidden legally to read. And even if you don't stumble upon them, this site might be already tagged as a certain site. I wonder if you can get in trouble even if you don't go into the forbidden section (many stories are in multiple categories so it's not strictly divided). I just had an unpleasant incident that's why I started to think about it :blink:.

I used to read on my phone a lot. Mostly from these two sites. Asstr is also nice since it has a pretty good search engine and a big database, including the nifty archive. I myself plan to buy kindle, but I'm still considering other options. I hate kindle user interface it looks beyond complicated and not efficient (one level collections etc.), also lack of support with pdfs. The necessity to register with amazon sucks too (they block many features if you don't - that's blackmail )
