It's best to get the majority if not all of your protein from whole plant foods. That way the protein is supplemented with fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that will also boost your athletic performance. Animal proteins contain deleterious components like cholesterol, IGF-1, sulfur-containing amino acids, heterocyclic amines, estrogen, toxic heavy metals, etc..
