@Adverse The Horizon is on Youtube in the US. It's one of my favorites. Low budget, some cast changes, but well written and good characters.

John Kelland Torrent Disappeared
It's the old 4.49 g John Kelland torrent. I've been seeding it for years as I just get a kick out of his personality and want it to be there for others. Anyway, the arrows red on my Utorrent as it appears my tracker is no longer correct. I searched this site but the torrent is gone, not under active or even under dead torrents. Does anyone understand what happened, or, as is disconcertingly often the case, am I missing something really obvious I should have checked? Thank you!

Short film Atraccion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PugsnBRfQso
Short film on youtube posted by the director. I liked it a year ago but it didn't have English subtitles back then. I thought it was worth wider viewing so am suggesting it here. -
Name of short movie, guy at hotel, father visits
I can't find it and am in the mood to watch it after seeing "Winning Dad." There is a little bit of similarity I think.
For the short, I think I saw it on vimeo. A man is trying to get into his hotel room but is having problems with the lock but an odd old guy who seems to be a resident tells him how. He goes into his room and appears bummed. Knock at the door, it's his conservative father who has never been comfortable with him being gay. Father's there because he knows his son had a fight with his lover and the relationship is in jeopardy and shares a bit about his own relationship challenges with his own marriage. Turns out dad brought the lover with him so they could talk, but tells the lover he'll stay in the parking lot in case he decides he doesn't want to stay. Much like "Winning Dad" it was a film about a father coming to accept his son and wanting to support his relationship.

RE: BitTorrent stuck on "Finding Peers" with 11 Seeders Feeding Torrent
@diriomaneva I have been having this problem as well. I made sure qbittorrent is fully updated and tried the "random port" suggestion above. I've done some help searching and just can't figure it out, which I hope it means it's something obvious right in front of my face.

RE: Greetings from Mexico
@lmixxo Welcome! I'm studying Spanish and planning to vacation in Mexico. Do you have a place you go to for downloading more mainstream movies?

Alternate Ending to "Are We Lost Forever"
I don't want to download the entire DVD to see it on the extras, but would someone mind summarizing briefly? Sorry to seem lazy. I wondered if the cycling at the end of the film related to the location to which the couple had moved and if there were more meaning to be read into it.

RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it
Black Rain https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1332033/
It's one of those "bad" made-for-tv sci fi disaster movies. The fun thing is that two of the main characters are gay and (spoiler) don't get killed. I liked it. -
Mortie's Movie Magazine
Has this cropped up anywhere? I used to enjoy the thread on gay-pirates.com, but the site went away.

RE: Buddhism and Being Gay?
Tergar.org has a non-religious sequence of meditation classes and retreats (Joy of Living) and also Buddhist classes and retreats. I only have experience of the non-religious aspects but found it very accessible and good. In terms of openness, they have demonstrated sensitivity to concerns raised by gay participants. Opportunities for me to meditate in the rural Midwestern US tend to be with Buddhist groups and in my experience all have been very welcoming. The only odd experience I had was going to a retreat day and being shocked to discover everyone but me was Sri Lankan. It was actually a Buddhist church and all families with kids and a potluck and everything. Everyone was really nice, but I felt like a complete fish out of water-a lovely experience, actually.

Ryan Sullivan's Island
I just watched this. I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's reaction. It seemed like a bit of a head trip to me. I'm still feeling odd that the brothers never actually connected again. Or could there have been more to things than we saw in the documentary. I did a little looking online but really didn't see much in the way of interviews or follow up on the film and its impact on the brother John.

RE: Appetizers ~ {OFFICIAL CONTEST} Thread
This isn't terribly ground-breaking, but is one I have always associated with the holidays. It's got the major taste sensations–sweet, salty, crunchy, and bacony.
Bacon-wrapped waterchestunuts
Cut pound of bacon in half to make the strips shorter.
Wrap a piece of bacon around a whole waterchestnut (3 cans to a pound of bacon) and push a toothpick through.
Bake in a 400 F oven until bacon is brown and crispy.
Brush with barbeque sauce and return to oven for 10 minutes.

RE: Desserts ~ {OFFICIAL CONTEST} thread DESSERT ONLY
I just started making these this year. I needed to take some cookies to a gathering and wanted to try out a new recipe. I really didn't expect much, but these turned out fantastic. They're good right away and after a day or two develop a little crunchy coating from the sugar crystals.
Orange Delight Cookies
Beat until Creamy: 1.5 c packed brown sugar, 1.5 sticks butter
Add 2 eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition
Add 1 t vanillaSift: 3 c flour, 1.5 t baking powder, 1 t salt
Mix in a cup: .5 c milk, 1 t vinegar, .5 t baking soda
Alternate adding flour and milk mixtures to the bowl and beat until smooth.
Refrigerate 3 hours.
Heat oven to 350 F
Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls; place on parchment-lined cookie sheet.
Bake until lightly browned on bottom, 10-12 minutes.
Mix: 1 c fresh squeezed orange juice, 2 t orange zest, 3 c granulated sugar.
Dip warm cookies into the orange juice mixture; place on waxed paper to dry for 1.5 hours; turn and dry 1.5 more hours.

Champaign IL new LGBTQA center in Pepsi Refresh voting
I no longer live near here but wanted to support their cause. Pepsi Refresh voting is easy–you can do it through facebook or just through an anonymous e-mail. There is a new batch of causes each month and the top vote-getters each month get their project funded. This would be a great thing for that area--even moreso for the rural towns around Champaign. Please pass the info along to any supportive groups.

Dear family and friends,I am writing today because I need your help. Some of you know that I am on the Board of Directors for a new LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and ally) community center, The UP (Uniting Pride) Center of Champaign County. We have been fortunate to become a grant nominee in the Pepsi Refresh project (www. refresheverything.com). The grants are awarded based soley on votes from the general public. We have applied for $50,000 in order to pay for space and utilities in which to provide services and programs for the LGBTQA community in Champaign County. I need your help in order for us to win this grant!
As some of you also may know, I came out as lesbian in this community. When I came out there was no community center and no central location to receive information and support, other than the campus LGBT Resource Center. As a non-student (at that time), I didn't feel comfortable accessing that service. I was fortunate to have supportive family and friends, however, many LGBTQ people are not so lucky. This community center is a VITAL part of the Champaign County community. We are already providing programs for youth, adults, seniors, families, and special interest groups (writers, athletes, etc.). We NEED a physical space in which to provide these programs and services!
Please consider helping me and The UP Center by signing onto www. refresheverything.com/upcenter, creating your FREE account, and voting daily (once per day) in September in order to help us win this grant. We can't do it without your support and assistance. It really will take only moments per day. You can also vote via text or through facebook (see the site for more information).
If you have questions about The UP Center (www. unitingpride.org) or the grant, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I understand what a good cause this is but I had to remove the live links from this post.

RE: Good gay movie to watch?
9 Dead Gay Guys –funny British movie
Back soon --really romantic
Business of Fancy Dancing --native Americans in Pacific Northwest
Dreamboy --rural South; lovely and sad
Ice Blues --and all the other Donald Stratchey movies with Chad Allen
Shank --British, French boy and guy from wrong side of the tracks.
Shen Xia Guang Nian --Japanese film with a sort of unrequited love triangle
Tan Lines --left me wanting more time with the characters
