    • RE: How to abort the IRC message scroll?

Compatibility mode does appear to deal with the IRC problem, but it also makes a lot of other stuff not work.  So that's not a solution.

Well, it appears site revisions don't get tested on IE at all.  If so, at least I'll know not to raise these issues again.

Maybe the problem will go away when the snowflakes stop.  It did work fine before.  Anyway, thanks for the response.

    • RE: Can uTorrent 2.2.1 be made to do SSL?

It's still not clear where the problem lies.  The tech at my proxy says it's supposed to be fully compliant with socks5, but it's not clear he knows much more than that.  And I left a post in the utorrent forum asking about this, but got no reply.  So I don't know if it's a utorrent problem or a proxy problem.  In any case, it appears not to be a gaytorrent.ru problem.

The problem with using a VPN is that then all my traffic goes through the VPN.  With the proxy, only my bittorrent traffic goes through that extra hop.  So I prefer to use a proxy.

So far, yours is the only https tracker I've run up against, and you do have the http alternative.

    • How to abort the IRC message scroll?

On the home page, there's a box near the top with the latest 50 or so IRC posts.  They slowly scroll through.  If I click on Search or Browse, nothing happens until the IRC messages have finished scrolling and it tells me how many are signed up, or something like that.  Only then do I go to Search.  Is there a way to abort the message scrolling and go immediately to Search?  Or a setting to not see the IRC messages at all?

Windows 7, IE 10, if it matters.

    • RE: Can uTorrent 2.2.1 be made to do SSL?

I got 25302 installed, but it made no difference on my problem.  Still can't reach the https tracker through the proxy.  Well, it may be a problem with uTorrent.

I've inquired about this over on the uTorrent forums, and will report back here if I get any answers.

    • RE: Can uTorrent 2.2.1 be made to do SSL?

Thanks very much, Pawpcorn.  On further testing, I find that utorrent works fine with SSL if I go direct to the tracker and don't use my proxy.  However, when going through the proxy (Superchargemytorrent), it doesn't work.  Utorrent can't seem to make a secure connection to the tracker going through the proxy.

Of course I do want to use the proxy, but wonder if this is just an inherent problem of using any proxy, or whether the one I use just doesn't offer that feature.  It seems like it ought to work since all the proxy does is do IP and port translation.  But maybe not.

Can you shed any light on this?

Also, I find that my utorrent build isn't quite the last one.  I have 25130.  I'll update to your 25302 and see if that makes any difference, but I doubt it will.

    • Can uTorrent 2.2.1 be made to do SSL?

I'm using uTorrent 2.2.1, the last good version of that software, but have never been able to get it to open a secured connection to a tracker.  Nothing using https works.

I found the setting here to turn off SSL, so I'm back working again, but just wondered if there's a way to make it work with SSL (since it may not be optional forever).  Is there a mysterious setting that I've missed, or does this version just not do secure connections?  It would be a shame to have to move to a later, less useful, version of uTorrent over this.

      Thanks for any help.
