I've only been a member for 8 days. In that short amount of time, I went from having no knowledge of bittorrent to having learned how to download existing and upload newly created torrents thanks almost exclusively to the documentation and assistance provided by the staff of this site. Also, I participated in chat on a couple of occasions, and the moderators were incredibly friendly and helpful. I like that the rules are, shall we say, stated in a straightforward fashion. I don't know what the hell I'm doing, so very clear statements are good for dopes like me. Thanks.

RE: Proxy Servers
Hi there. I'm trying to get clarification on the "no proxies allowed" policy. I have a high-speed anonymous proxy service that I would like to use for transfers. I have read in other posts that members are allowed to use proxies for transfers, but not for logging into the web site. Is that correct? Or would I be violating policy if my IP address used for transfers did not match the IP I use to log in? Also, I suspect other members could show the same IP for their transfers, so I don't know if that would be a violation. Thanks for your help.
You can specify which applications are to connect over proxies and which not. "Proxy-not-allowed" problem is related to your site account, not to your transfers. But, to be exact, we don't speak about "proxies" how most users may understand this term. There are specialized high-speed proxy services for this purpose, but all of them require a paid subscribtion. Common proxies free of charge may work, but their transfer speeds are extremely low. So far, PeerGuardian seems to be almost a sufficient solution against unwanted spies.
