Seeding after changing downloaded file's name and directory location
-
Hi,
I'm fairly new to GTRU, and torrents in general. I've had a problem with seeding my downloads and have only recently worked out why. I've been changing name of the files, then moving them into a new folder, after they've finished downloading. This has obviously cause them to no longer seed. So I tried to re-set the download location but every time it would start downloading the whole torrent again.
To make matters worse, I downloaded a 31.6GB torrent, and now my ratio is dismal, so I tried to fix that one, and have only made matters worse (I think).
I removed the torrent from uTorrent, renamed the file to what the download torrent was called by it's originator, tried to re-install the torrent in uTorrent and point it the renamed file that contains all of the completed/downloaded files, and now the torrent is displaying O B downloaded, but says it's seeding. On GTRU it's not showing as seeding at all.
I think I've royally effed it!! Any assistance would be great!
Thank you!

With that torrent selected in µTorrent, please look under the "Trackers" tab in the lower µTorrent window for the message in the "Status" column and the line with the tracker announce URL. What does it exactly say?

Hi Popper,
Thanks for getting back to me.
It says 'scrape not supported'.
Also, I should probably mention, I'm using a Mac.

Hi Popper,
Thanks for getting back to me.

I think I've managed to get it successfully seeding again. Under the 'Trackers' tab, the 'Status' for the URL now says 'Working'. All the 'Pieces' in the 'Files' tab are now blue.
I've also checked my GTRU 'User Details' tab; the torrent is now displaying under in 'Currently Seeding'.
It's only been around 10 minutes, but there has no been no seeding activity for the torrent yet. I'll wait and see if it begins to seed.
For anyone else having this issue - there's a post on the uTorrent forum, under "General' called 'Help Seeding', dated 2012-07-17, which will be able to assist. Make sure you get the file directory correct. My issue was drilling down too far. I only needed to direct it to the parent folder, when the torrent files are stored two folders further into this directory.
Thanks again for your assistance, Popper!

I'm afraid I spoke to early. 3 hours later and still sitting at 0 KB D/L & U/P

Please disregard (and delete if possible) the last two comments, the torrent is now seeding and uploading.
Thanks again.

I'll leave them, because what happened to you is quite typical and your experience can help others.
The tracker message "scrape not supported" origins from the fact that our tracker got the scrape support switched off. Therefore all stopped and queued torrents from GayTorrent.ru will show that message.
If that happens, just Force Start helps, or fiddling with the queuing priorities, for example setting the global or individual seeding goal higher than the default 50%, giving seeding task higher priority than downloading, or reducing the number of concurrent downloads (in favour to seeding).

Thank you very much for this older entry. I strongly believe in "RTFM" and routinely search the forum for solutions to my usage questions. I had a torrent (XTube.CAM4.GAY.AMAT.MEGABK.1.Ch.28S.-.BERLIN.MUSCLE.BUTT.JOCK.RAW.FUCK.CRUISERS) in FINISHED state when I saw during a routine search that it was "recycled". When I started it, it would just so go to "QUEUED SEED". Since the number of active torrents (6) was less than my queue limit of 10, I started trying to get it to seed, especially since I could see from the search page that there were already a dozen leeching on it with only 3 seeds active.
I originally googled for articles dealing with progressing from queued seed to seeding states and after over an hour of reading not very helpful (and sometimes sanctimonious) replies to similar questions, I switched to searching GTru's forum. Duh on my part. Within a couple of minutes, I had useful information and performed the Force Start and immediately got results. I joined the seed pool and now there are 4 seeds helping the 19 peers get their copy of the torrent.
