Do bears generally only like bears?

Hey…
Do bears generally only like bears? I have been wondering for while but I don't have any bear friends to ask this question...
I've been to several local bear events in Vancouver, Canada (like the bearracuda etc.) but I realized that bears are not really into non-bear...I mean, I am a big asian (6'3 240lbs) but I am smooth (try not to google "hairless bear", it's very gross...). After like 3 or 4 times, I realize that people in those bear events generally have no interest in me what so ever Oh, and I am shy in a crowded place like that...that doesn't help I guess :blownose:
anyway...that's just how I feel...and I am curious about what the true bears think...

Some guys do and some like all types of guys

I think you should read this post by my Husbear : https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=6737.0
From that post.
TERMINOLOGY
Some terminology relating to the Bear community includes:
* Admirer - a term that refers to someone who is sexually or romantically attracted to Bears (this term is often used in various communities to describe an outsider who has sexual attraction to people within that community). Also often referred to as a Chaser. Admirers/Chasers can be of any weight, hairy or hairless and any age.
Common denominator was facial hair and a masculine, friendly attitude. But the simplest definition of Bear comes from that magazine's tag line -”Masculinity Without the Trappings" - a line that was coined by the original owner of Bear Magazine, Richard Bolger.
An event like Bearracuda must be sponsored by a Bear Club from that area so contact that group and go to a meeting maybe. Meet the people from that Bear Club and discuss these issues with someone from the club. If you are a Bear Admirer I bet you will find acceptance within the community.
Most Bears are not shy at all and are quite the opposite in fact. They will generally be helpful to an "outsider" in typical Bear attributes but is an Admirer.
The right clothes and attitude will take you a long way in getting a Bear's attention at such an event. Facial hair is probably a must have item also. The next time you attend one of the Bear events be a part of the local Bear Club and volunteer some time at the event. Try to be in a volunteer position that will put you in contact with the most Bears possible. Be more outgoing but be true to yourself and I bet you will have a different experience totally.

I don't know in general, but for myself, I'm a bear and a bit fat (not really chubby like 150 kg) and I definitively prefer just the opposite! My perfect type would be a bodyhair-less fitness/bodybuilder type.
I'm not going to ask how many hairless bodybuilders prefer bearish type, but I'm afraid that close to none
-
I think they prefer thin and little guys, so they feel so dominates
-
well my partner is a bear, but i'm not. of course, he likes looking at slim/muscular guys, so bears don't ONLY like bears. there are those that do, though
-
Bears dont always like other bears. I have known many many bears in my life. They seem to like the entire spectrum as every other person. It is true tho, people generally gravitate to people like themselves, ie Asian with Asian, Black with Black etc… But that is just a generality. As many times as you find an example of that you find an exception.
That being said, going to a Bear event, you expect to find bears. A big Bear looking for a twink to have as his partner is less likely to go to a Bear event, and more likely to go to where there are twinks. So in your case, try going to events with lots of Asian guys, and keep an eagle eye out for a Bear. Chances are he is looking for an Asian guy.
-
Well I'm a bit of a bear (more of a cub, really), and I'm totally into twinks. I like bears fine but they're not generally my type. Considering you're posting this in a forum dedicated to people who like bears, you're probably going to get a skewed response. Bears often like other bears, but not all of us!
-
I find bears to be very sexy. In particular muscle bears. However I personally am more of a chub than a bear.
-
I'm attracted to bearlike men, but I'm an otter myself. There are a lot of bears that would like to go out with me. So I guess not that bears stick with their own kinds just like any other kind of build.
-
First, I am an Asian man…
...and I am attracted to hairy, muscular bottoms - And that puts me in a very strange position indeed.
My general experience is YES, most bears do prefer other bears and I occasionally face some hostility at Bear functions.
(As though I'm diluting the testosterone in the air…)
Many also jump to the conclusion I'm a bottom...BUT I have been pleasantly surprised a few times :cheesy2:
So, in conclusion, there is nothing to lose in making the approach.
:clap2:

As a very bearish type …. I have to say that it seems pretty common for bears to go for other bears, which is a sad thing for me. I'm pretty much drawn to slender, petiter, smooth types myself (scrawny or feminine even "twink" is my ultimate type right now).
It seems to go with getting into the culture of it at all. I have this theory that among men attracted to other men, we all do our best to sort of "become" what we're attracted to. And, for better or worse, with the tiniest bit of natural body hair it's pretty darn easy to convert-to-bear (put on some mass, fat or not-very-lean-muscle, stop shaving, then pretso-changeo!) I have a friend from high school who I never would have pegged as a bear type that has undergone a transformation in the last couple of years, with a beard reaching down to his chest and 30-40+ pounds of body weight added. It's a shame, he was so cute as he was.
So, I'd go so far as to say that someone who likes bears is more likely to strive to look like one.
Alas, I think that goes for a lot of the standard types as well. Jocks go for jocks, trendy hipsters go for trendy hipsters, twinks for twinks, yadda yadda. It's sad because I definitely want my scrawny smooth boy, but it's not so easy for someone with my build and body hair to retro-fit down to "twink" status.
There are bears out there that are tired of being shoehorned into going for other bears, though, believe me. I'm one.

Let me share a bit of my experience, I'm a boyish thin smooth guy, and a long time I considered myself a chaser.
When I was closeted I likes bear porn and I liked the friendly, inclusive attitude that they present, and when I came out I tried to go to bear clubs to get me some big hairy action.
Now, I won't generalize, I've dated and befriended some awesome bears, but I became quite disenchanted with the bear community as a whole, since I was frequently shunned and rejected, I find it quite ironic since the whole bear attitude is about being happy with your body and not having to adjust to the mainstream gay community's beauty standards and I found myself shunned because I didn't meet THEIR standards.
I think this stems from what LthrBearCub said about people at those events looking for other bears, which makes it kinda hard for chasers to find an event to meet guys, you certainly could go to an asian event and any bear there might be into you but it's doubtful you'll find many.
Thing is, you can't really say if all the members of a certain group like or dislike something, each of them is an individual and thus have their own preferences but certainly most people identifying themselves with the community will also be into bears.
I'm sorry for all of the rambling, the only advice I could give you is to look for big, hairy guys who are outside of the bear community, they are likelier to be into non-bears, they're not as easy to find, but they're out there.
Sorry if I offended any bears out there, I admit I'm kinda resentful and my perception might be skewed. -
In general I think yes, bears mostly like bears. But I knew bears who like shemales!! Bears who like hairy but thin guys. Also knew bears who like twinks. Every rule has exceptions.
Cheers

I think that is entirely up the the bear. Most likely though they like to stay in their own forest, but their is always a couple that tend to go off the beaten path into the city.
