Add plenty of protein to your diet.

Don't ignore the other types of food though, otherwise you will regret it (bloating, constipation, smelly poohs, etc).

Personally, I'd rather be tone than "big".  I do mostly a lot of reps with medium weight, rather than a few reps with a lot of weight.

I think raphjd has the right idea for you with his suggestions. Muscles are heavier than fat and you should "gain weight" with muscle development. If you are a Gym Member they must have someone on staff that could help you with this situation.

I feel your pain as well…. I was a size 28 when I went into jail last year.... Sadly, due to a number of factors, including a med switch up, I have gone up to a size 40. I now have the same problem.

idoido : Is everyone in your family thin, or are the older ones on the heavy side?
                    How old are you?
I wouldn't worry about it if you're young and weight gain runs in your family. If so, you'll look back and miss the days you could pig out on anything you wanted to. 😉

I was the same when I was younger. Going to the gym and drinking protein drinks helped a lot.
These days tho, I can gain weight without even trying -lol.

When you are young your methabolism can burn anything and have lots o energy, but as you grow older the weight gain will be normal, it can be muscle weight if you exercise or fat weight if you dont have healthy habits

                          Check your diet.

When you lift, low reps high weight.

Also you may have a genetic predisposition to not being very big.

You must stop soft drinks too, and it`s not necessarily to go at gym, maybe at home doing exercises

I feel you man, I used to be extremely thin dare I say anorexic???
I second that with going to gym to develop muscle.
Maybe try to eat smaller portions and divide them up like 5 meals a day. The latter helped me to gain some weight. I'm still thin but at least not dangerous thin anymore.

Hi this seems to be a very old topic not sure if u would see this but anyway, try increase the amount u eat and change ur eating habit once in a while, so u body can store the fat and not quickly responds to the increased nutrition intake. good luck

I make myself a protein shake every morning wether I go to the gym or not, it has about 32g of protein and over 600 calories. This goes along with my breakfast.

I developed a habit of eating right before I go to bed, and it seemed to make me gain some weight, even though I'm the same as OP in that I never seemed to gain weight no matter how much I ate. Maybe you could give that a try.

excess protein (not enough exercise to burn it) can trigger diarrhoea
