Rationator 3.0 Torrent Download Permissions
-
Hit and run account opening / closing is an issue to open sign-up. Having control on that behaviour will allow for more open sign-up periods, something which is intended to be the future.
In addition this system will give yet another reason to upload own torrents. Currently there are too few uploader of own torrents.
I can understand if some members will find the system to restraining. In that case, they should think if **Gay-Torrents.**net with open sign-up and no minimum ratio requirements isn't the better site for them.
Personally I keep membership on all major English board language torrent sites.
BTW: Does anybody know a Spanish gay torrent tracker?

I know I'm dumb but this makes me feel even dumber. I haven't a clue what all that arithmetic is about.
I'm not even sure whether people are talking about downloading the tiny torrent file or sharing the torrent behind it.
And if there are 'good reasons' behind any site changes, why not share them with us….please :cry2:
I would like as well re-question if the "new" system is based on the downloaded torrents-files ( *.torrent ), or does it include the download time from the files behind the torrents as well? I think I'll never reach the max. allowed ones anyway, but it might be interesting for other users.
Besides the strange way of calculation, do you really think, that you are going to change the way, "hit and run" - users act? Due to fact that you wrote, that you plan to do more open sign-in periods, the cheaters and hit-and-run - users will return, but I don't assume that their behaviour change, only because you are implementing a more complicated way of haunting. As well this doesn't increase the numbers of uploads, because cheaters and hit-and-run users won't become uploaders, just because their accounts got disabled or restricted.
On the other hand, your regulary users get frustrated and irritated because of the whole lot in controlling their up- and download behaviour and especially in times, where the world press discuss "prism" and "tempura" or other surveillance systems around the world, your users will in fact look for other tracker - possibilities, because they are fed up with restrictions and surveillance! :afr2:I am on no other gay torrent - site and I even didn't look for another tracker, as GTru was temporary closed, but I really think, that you should stop your haunting-efforts at this point. The "normal" rationator is sufficient and if there still had been some cheaters or some hit-and-run - users - so what? They are not as regular as the "normal" users and we all know, that there are some black sheeps between the white ones.

Daily download limit = # completed downloaded files –----- it has nothing to do with the ".torrent" file or download time.
The new system integrates upload and download requirements that other sites are likely to follow. The method has already proven itself to the staff in just a matter of days, as the hit and runners are being caught in larger numbers with minimal downloading having occurred. It's actually very effective. Fortunately or unfortunately site users don't see all the issues that staff and admin have to contend, but no one benefits and everyone loses from hits and runs except for cheaters.
If a hit and runner can no longer cheat easily, they will be forced to make one of 2 decisions. Join as a good member or leave GTRU alone. This is a win-win scenario, except maybe not so good for individuals who want to continue cheating. Since modification #2 we have had ZERO complaints by regular users. And there are future modifications that may occur to the benefit of regular users with additional testing. The "normal" rationator was insufficient and why it was necessary to develop a more sophisticated fairness system.

I HATE “daily download limit” rule
and I REALLY Can't see the benefits of doing soHi all,
Same here, I really HATE this useless, for me, new rule. Why ?
Sometimes I can't check GT site during some weeks (holidays, work travel, etc…), when I go back I had and love to review all torrents which have been posted since my last checking time.
However, I can easily have 50+ torrent to retrieve for the day and put in queue, and this new, annoying (sorry to be rude), rule, I can't do that anymore, I have to wait 24h only to continue to catch up all missed torrents and during this time, even more torrent are added... see the point ?In normal time, this rule would not be a problem, and I DO understand staff problem about cheaters but in this special case for normal user, that's especially BORING !
Why normal user should pay also for cheaters ?Sorry and again, I really hate this new restriction, please remove it or adjust it !
Best Regards,
-
@blacklov - consider uploading your own new torrents – it will double your ability to download to a max of 50 a day.
Otherwise I'm sure you'll find a simple way to adjust your schedule to accommodate, yes? C'mon. . . it's not so difficult. Have faith in yourself.
-
Thanks for advice, yes, I will consider to upload my own torrents but it's pretty hard to find fresh and interesting stuff, content is so huge here ! :cheesy2:
Since I'm not totally sure to understand how it is calculated, could you tell me how many torrents I will need to publish to max my autorized download please ?Otherwise I'm sure you'll find a simple way to adjust your schedule to accommodate, yes? C'mon. . . it's not so difficult. Have faith in yourself.
LOL, sure, this is not the end of the world, after all, this is only porn and will try to find a new "rythm" and/or way but, honestly, I would have prefered not to be limited as before, it was so much more convenient my friend :hug2:
-
Your current download limit is 26 torrents/day. If you improve your ratio, additional torrents will become possible, a little at a time as your ratio grows higher above your minimum ratio requirement of 0.8. However, the fastest way to increase the limit is to upload. For each upload, you get a permanent increase in your download limit by one. So to max out at 50 torrents/day, upload 24 torrents.
-
I think this has come up already, and I won't get too long winded as I'll put my trust in the promise that the staff will evaluate and tweak as concerns come in, however…
I'm being punished because I don't visit and download a bit every day, when I prefer to visit about once a week and get a bunch at once. I recognize that you have cheaters and seed-hogs and other issues you need to crack down on, but there has got to be some kind of better solution to this that does not punish users like me

The Baseline permissions have been adjusted, following the feedback from long-time good members. They felt to be too much limited by them, which is not the intention of the Rationator 3.0 system.
This concerns members which built an account over time, having more than 50 GB downloaded. The changes in detail:
< 100 GB + 2
< 250 GB + 3
< 375 GB + 4
< 500 GB + 5
< 600 GB + 5
< 700 GB + 4
< 800 GB + 3Here an illustration:
Baseline 1 are the previous, Baseline are the new values.
The starting curve remains unchanged. This is to slow down new hit and run accounts created during open signup. We had seen new users downloading hundreds of gigabytes during the 3 days grace time just after account creation. Rationator 3.0 makes that more difficult (but not impossible). We are not looking for such "power leecher" members, but for members who care, share and stay.

Iptorrents
alsois tracking hit and runs, were not the only ones. They show up on your Iptorrents profile which you are only allowed so many (i believe) You can however make those hit and runs disappear by using your seed bonus or your upload credit, either way you have to pay for hit and runs :police: -
hit + run: since seeding doesn't seem to be a problem here i thought to not catch those..

Nice decision to "adjust" the new system a bit. Thank you! :hug2:

gues he is talking about another tracker, not gtru

Yes I was I guess the iptorrents.com didn't show up in my response.

Without being able to give you the definition of Iptorrents for "Hit and run", in the context of torrents it means to download a torrent's files and to stop the torrent or remove it from the torrent client programme as soon as the download is complete.
That means the burden of uploading, which is the bottleneck for download speeds, is left to other users. If that behaviour is common on a tracker, download speed will suffer quickly after the first hype and many torrents will turn dead already a rather short time after their initial upload.
-
if your limits arent enough because you came back frequently, you can add those torrents you cannot download to your wishlist.. so you can easy find them the next day to download them.. just takes you a minute

I appreciate the discussion, and the changes implemented by GTRU. You guys are awesome. Thanks for listening. My dick is no longer aching… at least, not for another couple hours.
One more question, though... and certainly not the beat a dead horse, but... I definitely understand the need to prevent cheaters. It makes all of us suffer, least of all you guys as the people who run GTRU. But, I wonder... For people who have been a member for a particular period of time, and have uploaded (or downloaded) a particular number of GBs, and have a ratio above a certain number (say 1), why not remove their limits altogether, since it's clear that they're not cheating. And if they fall below the 1 ratio, fine. Limits go back into effect until they're above again. Seems to me like you'll be rewarding the good guys and punishing the bad guys all at the same time... and it wouldn't discourage anyone from being a good guy since they're going to be limited regardless one way or another under the current setup.
Just a thought.

Completely agree. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution.

Because new user can easily reach sky high ratios, it doesn't require much upload with low downloads …
The permissions increase steeply above 50 GB of download. Then someone who got a share ratio of 1 can download at least 14 .torrent files per day. Personally I can't see how even collectors get limited (their HDD space will limit them more), except those who pass only very occasionally.
